The DA was approved by council & we wanted to build the same plan rather than go through the whole thing again with a new buider. Westminster offered us a release of copyright for these plans plus all paperwork for $2500. so we accepted. Commuter I don't know how much you have paid, so can't tell if the offer of 5% back is any good, I assume this includes a release of copyright also. You will have to decide if it is worth taking & getting another builder to complete or waiting to see what happens as a result of the recent media coverage & what the DFT decides to do. Good Luck Hi Ryan - I think you made a wise decision. And $7,000 for drawing plans and DA submission is extremely reasonable!! By comparison, we paid about $20,000 for our plans to be drawn and DA approval - not to Westminster, but when we were working with Masterton. (In fairness though, we have a Custom design, so that included commissioning an architect at our choice for the original concepts, then getting a planning company to do all the Council plans and submission, and Council fees). Sometimes the faster you get out the better. (btw, Ryan - did that $4,500 include all DA submission, plans, associated documents and fees for Council DA approval? Or did you have additional Council fees on top of that? Fees for bushfire reports, statement of environmental effects etc?). Yes, so pleased we got out in time & thankful that we were tipped off to this site before we placed 1st progress payment. We would have had no idea of the problems if not for this forum so thanks everybody. I am so sorry for everyone stuck in this situation & wish everyone the best of luck. Re: Westminster Homes 592Oct 06, 2011 8:41 am Sorry Guys. Westminster has appointed a liquidator. Time to contact your insurance company. Just hope everything can be resolved in the very near future & we all can get our dream homes at last Re: Westminster Homes 595Oct 10, 2011 9:46 pm springtime Thanks everyone, It's a very uncertain time for all of us. Just hope everything can be resolved in the very near future & we all can get our dream homes at last Hi All, I am a new member in a similar situation where only slabs have been poured. It looks like Westminster Homes was well aware of this situation from last 6 months and they were trying to pump out as much money as possible from all of us. Would you know any other builder who can assist in this scenario? Thanks in advance. Re: Westminster Homes 596Oct 11, 2011 7:05 am Hi Gautam, We started this headache in November 2010 , & ever since then, it's been a constant worry. Like you, we only have a slab, frame & bricks & no roof ....the roof needs to go on asap as the frame has been exposed now for 6 months & starting to discolour. Have you lodged a claim in yet? We almost signed up with Westminster (had been through 2 tenders) when we didn't proceed thanks to this forum. We found a new builder. If you want some more info on the various builders we were looking at, send me a PM. The builder we have decided to go with has had 2 or 3 customers come over from Westminster. Good luck!
