Browse Forums General Discussion Re: Changing a Tap Washer, Pulling Apart the Tap !! 2Oct 03, 2011 7:54 pm I would like to help you but the BS involved in attempting to view your picture makes it impossible. Could you post your picture under IMGUR or some easier system? Arfur Re: Changing a Tap Washer, Pulling Apart the Tap !! 4Oct 04, 2011 9:41 am bonster Was not aware this was a hassle, I just click on it and it is there. Have added to site as you have suggested, thanks. Its because you have a membership to the site hosting it. Some people don't use MSN so can't see the picture and would have to sign up. Now on to the how to. Watch this video. It explains it all. The only difference is that I have only seen taps that have a nut on the top never a screw. A small socket set should have the socket you require for the nut. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sMaFmHBr ... re=related Re: Changing a Tap Washer, Pulling Apart the Tap !! 5Oct 09, 2011 5:20 am I doubt if that video will be of much help in dismantling this tapware and Im not familiar with this type --and neither are others judging by the lack of replies. However once you have removed the tap head, parts of the flange must unscrew OR the flange unscrews from the tap spindle, then its straight forward. Arfur Re: Changing a Tap Washer, Pulling Apart the Tap !! 6Oct 09, 2011 8:27 pm it screws of it will be stuck on with yrs of soap scum etc etc just put some heat on it or have a strap spanner but it will come off (you will have some fun )lol Fitzy Re: Changing a Tap Washer, Pulling Apart the Tap !! 7Oct 09, 2011 9:35 pm The video I posted above is 100% the correct video to watch if you want to learn how to change that tap washer in a tap similar to the one you posted in the photo. Some times people don't reply if an adequate answer has been provided. As for what Fitzy recommended, unless you are experienced in using heat to dismantle metal on metal fittings, ignore it and def don't hit it with a hammer of any kind. Call a plumber instead. It will cost you less in the end. I must get some new glasses then because the tap in the video is a pillarcock (basin tap) and the other a wall spindle. I think the original poster wanted to know how disassemble the dress-fittings off the spindle. Once he has accomplished that it then becomes 'similar' to your video.
