Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Sep 24, 2011 5:04 pm So we have contracted a builder to build the pool cabana. He is starting on the 10th October fingers crossed and thinks it will be well and truly finished before Christmas. Here is the floorplan:- Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ And here are my selections so far (as in the pool, frangi trees, brick and roof colours will not be changing): Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ There will be a bank of cupboards and fridges along the back wall. Then an island bench that will house the barbecue plate. Hubby wants a teppanyaki style set up with a lower breakfast bar edge along the pool side of the island bench. There will also be a sink / dishwasher in the bank of cupboards. Now keeping in mind this is a pool house we will not be having stone benchtops - laminex is fine. We want a tropical / Hawaiian / sleek theme - lots of frangis in our garden beds already. What would you choose for wall / flooring / cupboard / benchtop colours if you were choosing? The house I was fine designing, but this pool cabana is doing my head in! Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Anyone want to help choose colours for my poolhouse? 2Sep 24, 2011 5:46 pm What about picking up on the colours of the frangipanis? White, green, brown with maybe a touch of yellow as a highlight? I can give you the name a guy who painted a gorgeous mural on the back of DH's kombi ... freehand Re: Anyone want to help choose colours for my poolhouse? 8Sep 24, 2011 9:13 pm I want to still use colour but am wondering whether I should just stick to muted tones (since my house is so colourful). But deep down I think I will be disappointed to just stick with brown tones. They just are so not me. I just said to DH "How funky can I go?" Unfortunately he just smirked. Which may mean all the colour decisions are mine (or he may actually want to have a say for once LOL). I have been browsing the Laminex site and unfortunately the only things grabbing me are the Fusion surfaces, none of the plain. Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Anyone want to help choose colours for my poolhouse? 9Sep 25, 2011 1:25 pm I keep tellin you Kyton I need that entrance code!!! Love the plans for the pool house. Going to be fabulous. I had a look through the laminex site also - getting excited for you, but was disapointed also. Hmmm definately use colour. Off to look at the polytec site! Still not in. Don't ask!? Anyone want to help choose colours for my poolhouse? 11Sep 25, 2011 2:13 pm Bel - it isn't too out there but I don't think I am a yellow person. I am loving the Fusion Tattoo Fish in aqua as well as the Industrial Stripe in the Fusion range. We are looking to maximize storage so am planning on having a bank of cupboards in the bathroom with a sink instead of just a vanity like the drafty has drawn. Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Anyone want to help choose colours for my poolhouse? 12Sep 25, 2011 3:55 pm Since it’s all under cover, why not have a timber and stainless kitchen and throw colour with feature walls and accessories? You def have to have colour! It goes great with a tropical Balinese theme as well due to its streaky looking texture. And then choose a bold wall colour. I think a really deep pinky-red looks gorgeous with dark timbers and a tropical theme, or even a hot pink. And you can get pink frangipanis if you're not a yellow person!
