I too also choose to build the Waterfall. My handover was back in Sept last year. Know exactly what you guys are going through. I'm still trying to fix a acrylic rendering to my front facade. This has been a nightmare to say the least. Any questions you have regarding Waterfall let me know and i'll try to answer them with my Clarendon experience to date! Good luck guys ... ! Re: Building the Waterfall by Clarendon in Sydney 1156Oct 17, 2011 9:18 pm We built a Waterfall with a contemporary facade a while ago (we moved in July 2010). Have a few issues with the entrance porch roof design - see photos below. http://img17.imageshack.us/img17/3422/dscf1257n.jpg http://img849.imageshack.us/img849/4800/dscf1255z.jpg http://img6.imageshack.us/img6/6176/dscf1258y.jpg 2 main issues: 1) The roof of the entrance porch is completely flat with no provisions for water drainage at all. When it rains, the water collected on top of the roof pours over the front edge of the roof like a waterfall, which then splashes all over the entrance porch area 2) The pool of water collected on top of this roof takes days to evaporate, causing algae, moss, and sometimes even mosquitoes to grow in the stagnant water. Also some dirt / algae on the front edge because this surface stays wet for a few days afterwards. Has anyone else got similar problems? Any suggestions? Are there any clauses in any of the building codes which say roof areas must not be flat or must have some sort of drainage? Regards, STLIGL Re: Building the Waterfall by Clarendon in Sydney 1157Oct 17, 2011 9:39 pm rjg royboy @Infocus - Walkthrough went surprisingly ok, lasted 4 hrs, was 98% paint related and few chipped bricks from Brick cleaning . . Royboy, where were the chipped bricks? Are you doing face brick? I have seen the odd badly laid brick, but how can they fix that after it's all done? As an example, on my build, they have little edging brick that goes from inside the house to the alfresco (under the frame for the door, but exposed and tilted, sort of like what they do with the Brick Window sill). I am wondering how they would deal with that sort of thing? Hi They were all around the house..approx 5 of them. cause was the water blasting done to clean the bricks, it all got replaced with very little effort by the bricky. we're doing face brick. they cut the brick out with a special grinder without disturbing anythin else..then slot the new brick on with the mortar as tho it was there to begin with...cant even tell there was any issues there .. Re: Building the Waterfall by Clarendon in Sydney 1158Oct 26, 2011 6:12 pm Hi STLIGL, I'm in gypbrocking stage, I spoke to my SS re. entrance porch he said that's the way they design, but I saw from other Waterfall house around Kellyville, it had a colourbond material on the top of it. What's your one? It is Genneral stairs, but they won't deal with anyone off the street. They will only work with clients of project home builders. I tried to but some of these exact… 3 7923 The two 15mm holes are obviously not compliant. The Dept of Fair Trading would love to see this one! Do the gutters pool water after it stops raining? Although it's… 4 8350 No idea about the driveway question, but your price for a house that size including landscaping seems very good! 1 6381 |
