I got through it so fast I did the electrical and tiles/carpet in the same day! I was told I was the easiest customer ever! Anyway, I opted for rollerblinds sunscreen with shearweave fabric in off white. Cost for the whole house (Saville 27) was $4800. Does this sould reasonable? Those who have fitted blinds, do you think this is a good choice? I have pretty much NFI. thanks steve Re: Anyone else building in Glenmore Ridge? 92Sep 17, 2011 5:03 pm Lot927 Annette, good luck, you need to be happy with what you are doing. 50K in site costs is over the top. But then Eden Brae wanted to charge us over 20K additional site costs when with wisdom we have only a 20cm cut/fill and no additional site costs.... its a shame we won't get to see you about but I wish you and your family the best... have fun looking for your new family home Cass Thanks Cass. Must say i am looking forward to our next move. We only intended staying around Penrith till our youngest had finished his HSC so he's just about to do that so it's time to make a move. Less commuting for both the kids and my husband so that will be good. So we are busy getting a few things done around the place to get it ready to put on the market. Fingers crossed it sells quick and doesn't drag on too long. Im a very tidy person but it's hard to keep the house perfect with 3 males in the house....grrrrr. Will still pop on this thread and see how you are all progressing and even walk by some of your builds as we are only around the corner from there till we move. Annette Re: Anyone else building in Glenmore Ridge? 93Sep 22, 2011 4:31 pm How is everyone going? We are still in council.... still waiting, but then from how Matt and Linda are going it seems like it takes a few more weeks after consent for Wisdom to get on site... Essentially still in a waiting game... Re: Anyone else building in Glenmore Ridge? 94Sep 23, 2011 11:10 am So...we just got our contract. It's $5k more than the original one as it appears it was added up incorrectly when they sent us the quote. Not really sure where we stand with this (in the copy of the quote that came with the contract, the original price has been crossed out and handwritten in). Anyone know a good solicitor around Glenmore Park / Penrith area? Re: Anyone else building in Glenmore Ridge? 95Sep 23, 2011 2:20 pm Have you signed off the quote/tender. I would go back and look at current house prices and house price when you signed up. If you have paid money then they cannot alter the house base price. I would get them to go over the figures and explain why there is a handwritten amount. I would do as much of this by email/phone so that you have a copy... good luck with this I would ask them to go through the tender/quote and verify all charges. Re: Anyone else building in Glenmore Ridge? 96Sep 23, 2011 2:46 pm Thanks Cass. Yes, we have paid a $3k deposit. The problem is that they simply added it up wrong. In the sub totals, we have the house at $300k, and the land at $265k (well, close to those amounts anyway), and the grant total said $560k. To be honest, I didn't even look at the individual figures, just the total. The hard part is knowing where we stand with this. As the sub totals were correct, just the grand total was wrong, I don't really know whether we have any recourse here... Re: Anyone else building in Glenmore Ridge? 97Sep 23, 2011 7:37 pm I would ask some questions but maybe they can meet you halfway. They have made an error and you are paying them a huge sum of money. We built with Masterton Homes some 12 years ago and they made an error, not quite 5k, but it was a 2.3k mistake and they did not make us pay for it. I suppose in the end it depends on how much you want the house and land. If you are willing to give it up and move on you could threaten to take them to a tribunal but then is it really worth the struggle. I would try a "meet halfway on the cost" scenario. Lets face it, their accounts people should get it right and us as consumers should check everything. Good luck let us know how you go!
