Re: How to find missing pegs on the boundary? 3Aug 20, 2011 8:20 am The pegs, about 300mm high, you see when you first visit a site are not usually the boundary pegs they are markers for the boundary pegs. These are normally put in right next to the actual marker pegs which are driven down so the top is at ground level. I had the same story about the pegs were lost and the block needed to be resurveyed but using the title plan and a tape measure I found them in about 15mins. Re: How to find missing pegs on the boundary? 5Aug 20, 2011 8:32 pm Our builder told us in our contract signing app the first thing to do when we get our land is slam the pegs in as good as we can so no one can mess with them http://lindeman28.blogspot.com - Our building blog Re: How to find missing pegs on the boundary? 6Aug 23, 2011 2:02 pm Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I went to my block last weekend to check the pegs. I don't know what other pegs look like, on my block back boundary there is one wooden stick on the ground with the top part painted in white (about 300 mm height above ground), it stands straight next to the neighbour's temp fence and it seems nobody has touched it since it's been erected . The second back peg also sticks out of the ground but it's bent underneath the neighbour's temp fence . The front peg is missing, then I found a peg between weeds and grass, and looked at the site plan to find it should stand next to the driveway crossover boundary line, so I picked up the peg and stick it on the ground next to the crossover boundary line. Took some pictures of them and sent them to the builder, hope this should ok. Don't seem to find anything else next to the wooden stick, so I guess they are the real pegs, not just the markers. The fact that they are 30cm out of the ground and painted white, they sound like the survey pegs that show you where to find to boundary peg. The actual boundary peg is stamped right into the ground to ground level & is usually just infront of the survery marker. It's up to you but unless you found the true boundary markers, I wouldn't be guessing and just sticking the white survey peg where you think it goes. If you find out later it's in the wrong spot it could be costly if it means moving any part of the build Re: How to find missing pegs on the boundary? 8Aug 23, 2011 3:37 pm kdgirl citystop Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I guess I have to go back this weekend to look for the real pegs............ Re: How to find missing pegs on the boundary? 9Aug 23, 2011 4:27 pm I went through the exact same thing with my build. The other builders had removed most of the survey pegs. Went we went and really looked (actually had to take a shovel as there was grass grown over one side) were were able to locate the boundary markers in the ground. We were then able to put the marker back next to the boundary marker Re: How to find missing pegs on the boundary? 10Aug 28, 2011 9:32 pm Went to do some digging this Sunday and finally found the boundary pegs !!! They are buried under the ground next to the markers, had to really dig around the markers to find them. Thanks everyone for your help !!! The builder should have no reason to charge me for re-surveying now. Re: How to find missing pegs on the boundary? 11Aug 28, 2011 9:38 pm Thats great. For others who might have the same problem it might be worth knowing that normally its sufficient to find three pegs rather than all four. The Harder You Try - the Luckier You Get ! It's a pain in the butt to do all that digging and searching but well worth int knowing you found them and that you don't have to pay for it to get re-surveyed. Re: How to find missing pegs on the boundary? 14Sep 01, 2011 10:01 pm We have the same issue with our block and i need to go out to the block on the weekend to find the boundary markers. The builders say they also need a current pegging plan does anyone know what this is or are they trying to justify the $800 they want to charge to re-survey?
