We got our keys yesterday afternoon and moved over a couple of loads in the car and had some dinner here. Then went home and cranked up with the packing etc... got a good nights sleep and have been moving all day today. The move went really well and so now I just have to go back and clean the rental to get our bond back. Will be cleaning all day tomorrow probably. Anyway the reward to come home here is totally worth it. As for the house, I knew I couldn't possibly get off lightly with doing a perfect plan for us and the major booboo to me is devistating! I have two laundry doors that swing as I didn't want a sliding door. Well I put my machine right up the end of my laundry right next to the door to go out and the washing machine sticks out far enough that we can't open the laundry door! What a stupid mistake to make. I was horrified because I love my laundry the way it is and there were suggestions flying around about cutting into the bench to move it etc... And then my husband was like oh well we're just going to have to get another machine. I LOVE my washing machine. It's actually 13 years old but it works like a dream and to replace it for similar quality will cost a small fortune. It's a top loader Maytag. It dosnt even look old. I'm really dissappointed. I know its just a machine but I'm a bit annoyed with myself for not realising. Anyway that aside, I'm loving everything, the plank flooring, the carpets, the dishwasher, the fridge, the pantry is a dream, the oven looks amazing (can't wait to use it!) the rooms are all perfect sizing for us and the kids are so happy here already. I'll be back to post some pics asap. mel, I'll check out your thread soon. Thanks handmick! Glad you like the floor, so happy with our choice. rahadza - I'm not sure on the dimensions of the kitchen but I'll have a look for you when I get my hands on the plan. The island isn't huge, only 1.5 long but 1m deep. I can just get 3 bar stools under. Re: CheerupCharlie's house - Vinyl Plank Pictures WHOOHOO!! 220Aug 20, 2011 1:20 am Oh wow, sounds amazing!! Congratulations!!!!! That's the only part I hate about renting, the clean up to impossible perfection What a shame about the laundry, but we all have regrets I'm sure and I think you are amazing to have designed your own house! I want to try and do that next time as now I work with house plans a lot and have seen some absolutely magical ideas (some so far out of reach though like a driveway that goes UNDER the house the full length so you drive in the front and out the back!) Enjoy your new home, there's no place like it huh Meanwhile we are having huge dramas with the bank over this shared loan we have on this house. They said we couldn't sell this house in the end because of the way the loan is structured with guarantors. Hubby blew his top and they said ok, we CAN sell... but only if the whole profits go toward paying off the other party's loan.... which means we spent $10,000 and a week of blood sweat and tears getting this house ready for sale for nothing A lesson learned I suppose... At least we get out of it, which is really all that matters. And I'll never do business with family again, you just never know what can happen down the track!
