As stated you get the normal build days of 20 weeks. Then they said they get an extra 37 build days in regards to major changes and whether. Our house the regatta 23 started the first week in April. We have only been told now that they are using these days. We are unsure why they should be allowed to due to the fact that we did no major changes to the house, the customer service rep said that changing the height of the ceilings, promotional items, alfresco, eaves, windows, render and evaporative cooling can effect the build date. Im pretty sure that these are all normal things that people add to there house!! Im very disapointed that it has taken pretty much up to the second last week in our build to tell us that they are using those days, as far as im concerned if they think thats those changes stated above are going to effect the build date we should be told from day one. And not to mention that we have only now been told that our storm water pipes from the street are higher than the house..... funny enough storm water cant go up hill!! So that is effecting the final time frame as well, not to mention that this should have all been noticed when the engineer was planning the house!! Other than that our house is looking amazing a few lil issues have arrised, that we mentioned right back at the start that still havnt been fixed, but the house looks great... I am looking for some feedback & if this has happened to anyone else and what are you thoughts. Thanks Hey there, PD will build you standard house with standard inclusions in 20 weeks for single storey. When you add more inclusion to your house they will require more time. For example 4 downlights (upgrade) will take 4 times longer to install than 1 batten light (standard). Render takes time to apply and set and then to paint. Standard plans usually don’t include tiles other than the wet areas. If you upgrade tiles/carpet to the remainder of the house they will increase the time allowance required to build your house. With weather, they allow 10 days in the contract but legally they can increase this if it rains more than their allowance. When are you scheduled for completion? Sounds like you are very close. I my case I don’t really care about how long they take, as long as it’s a good quality build then they won’t hear a complaint from me. Hi There, I understand how it all works but my understanding is that they should no this from day one if you have upgraded things, my issue is when you start buying things coz they said 20 weeks it will be finished no time will be needed... then towards July site supervisor said umm... last week in July it will be done, then first week in August and then from last week its jumped to nearly the end of September, and its really strange coz I go up to the house nearly every day and there is never anyone there... so to us it doesnt seem right for them to get that extra time if they haven't been using the time that they have given correctly. I would rather they just be honest and say look because of the upgrades we will need the extra 37 days to complete the house and this is because of the upgrades you have chosen. Instead of dragging it out right into the last month when were getting ready to move and then we have to unpack again. I would prefer them to take that extra time and finish the house properly considering the issues that we have had with brick walls being pulled down 2 times... slab being undermind, just alot of little things that have been created by the builder themselves. Ill keep you updated on what the outcome is Thanks for your help Re: Porter Davis homes 2857Aug 15, 2011 5:02 pm Roshi Hi...... There's a good news from my end............ Finally, we are enjoying the life in the new house.. Y'day was the big day & all went fine & was able to move in last night... Most of the defects which were in the independent inspector's report have been fixed & few minor things exists, which will be addressed in the coming few week. Overall the quality of the house is great & would like to thank all of you who have been provided valuable information. Keep up the good work PD!!! Wow! Congrats Roshi! The hard times are behind you.
