Hi all
Like others before me I've been browsing this forum for some time... particularly enjoying the photos!
So my partner and I have purchased a block of land south-west of Adelaide, about 10 minutes from the city. I've always liked Dechellis homes, in particular their attention to detail on finishes, so it was an obvious choice when we started to get quotes for our new home.
Due to the constraints of our block (hammerhead with community driveway), we had to have a custom design drawn up. Settlement on the land was last December, we signed prelims with Dechellis in January and then spent 5 months (!!!!) waiting for it to get through planning department in the council. We had to push a little harder with a few details - such as our % of block coverage is a little more than usual council regulations.
We received our builders pack at the end of July and in a little under two weeks we've completed nearly all our selections - quite a task as most selection centres are only open Monday to Friday 9-4, and when you work full time this proves tricky! Only windows and electrical to go.
Our final selection appointment with Dechellis is 20th September... and after much begging and pleading to move that forward, they still said no
Building contract commences end of October - seriously hoping we get some movement on our block before then!
The process so far has been exciting as well as tedious. Once all the selections are done, we should just be able to move in..... right???
Anyway, it will be nice to meet some people on here going through the same process and to get ideas etc. And yes, before you ask, I'll be posting photos.... as soon as I work out how!
