It has power points inside the cupboard and a little door that opens to the side. Frequently used items such as toaster, kettle and a little milkshake machine that the kids use sit there already plugged in ready to use. We just slide the items out onto the bench , slide them back in and close the door when not in use. Above that main level we have shelves for other appliances (toasted sandwich maker, slow cooker, mixmaster etc.) These can be accessed from a door at the front. We just pull them out and put them on the bench when in use and then straight back into the appliance cupboard. I don't like the clutter out on the bench getting in the way and a butler's pantry wouldn't work in our household Re: Where's your toaster? 37Aug 14, 2011 12:15 pm So just wondering what clearance you guys have between the shelf that houses the toaster and the shelf above? Or any indication on how much I should allow? Currently my space allowance is only 380mm so I suspect not quite high enough to allow for the likes of a toaster (it will fit - but just taking about clearance for smoke from scorched toast and the like). I'll need to move one of the shelves in my pantry (and it's not one of those shelves that you can just move the 'pegs' and adjust, they are kind of built in, so it will require some handy work and will become once again permanent (more or less) so I need to get it right. Thanks.... HHCIB Re: Where's your toaster? 38Aug 14, 2011 2:00 pm kek, whoaooa! me too! ...hhcib ( cool shortened name!!) I dont know re exhaust fan. I havent bothered..but we rarely burn toast so a fire alarm is prob better we dont have a microwave in the pantry , that sits under the bench next to the oven. I would think the microwave wouldnt really need an exhaust..I mean , 3 mins for some peas, aint going to heat up the pantry. if you use it a lot though then you might want one here is my kitchen plan..we have an appliance cupboard (like miss, but a bigger one) with bi fold door next to the sink and then an open pantry with no door as you can see, it doesnt face the public so no need for a door. YOU CANT SEE THE TOASTER!! but it is to the left of the kettle, which lives on the white shelf. Exactly this for us too, I use the toaster daily. I just don't have an issue with getting it out and putting it away. --- - *coming to you from the iPhone, while sitting on my backside* Re: Where's your toaster? 40Aug 14, 2011 2:20 pm We have had toaster & microwave in the pantry in our last two builds-never had need for an exhaust fan but both pantries had plenty of ventilation (one was 1.5m x 1.5m, this one is something like 3.5 x 3m).
