Should be done by tomorrow or friday Great, it sounds like things are ticking along nicely after your little painting hold up Yeah they're going very well We were able to sneak in today and have a peep. They've grouted everything downstairs now and upstairs nearly everything is finished as well. Just a few little tiles here and there to be put in and a couple of bits of grouting. Hooray! Thanks, we are happy with the way it's coming along, your build looks like its coming along nicely too. There has been more progress this week, I'll post up some more pics shortly. Re: Plantation/Henley Emperor Q1 - Gyprock started 186Aug 17, 2011 7:04 pm Well, not much to report for the exterior of the house apart from more of the cladding being painted: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ But BIG news in the inside where the gyprock is almost completed, only the cornice to finish now! We went out to the house last weekend and found we were locked out and had to make do with peeking through the windows But as we have the rest of this week off we went for a sticky beak today in the hope that there would be some tradies on site, and as you can see from the pics below we were in luck, the plasterers were just finishing for the day and we managed to get in to see their handywork Standing in the living looking towards the kitchen and dining: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The alcove in the kitchen that will house the cooktop and rangehood: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The living room: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The alcove for the fridge, wall oven and pantries: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The butlers pantry: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The back of the home theatre with the double gyprock/soundboard: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The front of the home theatre: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ In the theatre, looking to the double entry doors for the room, you can also see the entry to the laundry and powder room: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The downstairs powder room: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The hallway with the niche where we will put the hall table and mirror: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ One of the upstairs bedrooms looking into the main bathroom: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Another bedroom: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The newly extended WIR in the above bedroom: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The master bedroom with the entries to the WIR's either side of where the bed will be: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ and finally... the laundry: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ That will probably be the last time we will be able to do inside for a while due to work commitments, but it is great to finally see everything shaping up nicely. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Now its sooooo much easier to check out the work upstairs instead of the jungle gym of scaffolding and a ladder. As you can tell, while out on our weekly visit to the house we discovered the addition of stairs and the start of the waterproofing in the laundry and bathrooms, hopefully that is the sign that the tiling will soon start. The installation of the window and doors trim, plus the interior doors has also started. We’ve been told painting is next up as the tiler is booked on another job and the aircon install is supposedly 4 weeks away, so that’s a good indicator that things should be nearing the finish line soon After we had a think about whether we would actually use the leftover house bricks we decided that we probably wouldn’t use them, so we decided to sell them on Ebay. We are happy to report they sold and they have now been picked up plus it was nice to make a little bit extra to put towards the endless list of post build tasks. Re: Plantation/Henley Emperor Q1 - We have stairs! 191Sep 07, 2011 6:38 am Oh I didn't even think of doing that. We just got the builder to take them during a site clean. I still can't believe how much quicker the same company is in another state. I still can't believe how much quicker the same company is in another state. We'd already be in if your mob was doing our house Hey Twiggy, originally we were determined to keep them when we found out they just chuck them away at the end of the build (couldn't stand the thought of the waste and also the fact we had paid for them ) so we were all geared up to move them out of the way of the site clean-up guys and make use of them somewhere in the landscaping, but without having the right brick trolley to move them easily we decided someone else could pay for the honour to take away some brand new bricks There were a few people interested, so there must be a market for them. From what our SS has told us Plantation are pretty slow in getting new work at the moment, so they probably have an oversupply of tradies ready to do the work up here in QLD which is helping our build (and yet I still think they are dragging along the build ) I just want to get in the house! Send them down here to flush out the cowboys, we need some quality tradies in vic. Been stalking your thread, your house up is coming nicely, love the way they put things together. Look at the way they do the water proofing in your house, thats what I would call water proofing, they did a bare minimum in my house, stopped at the shower base. Should have moved up north long ago. We'd already be in if your mob was doing our house Hi Twiggy I think yours' pretty quick, we started at pretty much the same time, and they still haven't finished the painting in my house. It gets worse, the lockup carpenter hasn't stopped fixing all the stuffed-ups in my house ever since, he was cursing the whole world every time I see him there. My house looks like a piece of poorly done patch work. I'm not sure the QLD tradies could cope with the cold down there It is good to hear that the our guys seem to be doing a good job though, I didn't even really think about how much waterproofing was normal but it seems that each tradie has a different standard... Re: Plantation/Henley Emperor Q1 - Cabinets in! 197Sep 12, 2011 11:39 am Big progress on the internals to report!! The majority of the cabinetry is in and tiles have been delivered. Unfortunately we couldn't get inside over the weekend but we managed to get some covert photo's of the work that has been done, I was so tempted to go and get a really tall ladder and break in! We are really happy with the colours and the soft close catches we chose for the overhead cupboards. From what we can tell all the work in the laundry is done including the bench top and sink and my beautiful butlers pantry is all fitted out. It is all getting really exciting now!! Very nice thanks Tamara, can't wait for it all to be finished and I can start cooking up a storm Your place looks great too, I was admiring the blue feature wall in your bedroom - we were thinking of going for a blue in our main bedroom, not sure on the shade yet though. Re: Plantation/Henley Emperor Q1 - Cupboards in! 200Sep 13, 2011 4:04 pm The meeting with the tiler went well this morning, they should be finished on Friday with any luck. It was good to go out and meet with them to go over everything, especially as we picked up that the plans didn't have a tile splashback behind the sink in the main bathroom, so they are going to fix that for us and hopefully extend the wall tiles above the bath in that bathroom and in the powder room. The cupboards look great up close, we took a few photo's that I'm hoping to post up tonight if the internet decides to play nice Is it possible to render an old corrugated iron shed.I have heard that it can be done if it is covered with chicken wire first. Not sure of the ratio of the render mix and… 0 4941 Thanks.
