I have seen mechanical devices at physio theraphy pools that they sit on and the machine lowers them and raises them. But I'm guessing they would cost a fortune. Can you take her to one of these pools or did you want to use your own pool? Re: help to get my wife into swimming pool 3Dec 07, 2004 9:09 pm COUld some sort of slide be used for her? Re: help to get my wife into swimming pool 4Feb 08, 2006 7:34 pm Sounds weird but an engine crane could do this pritty well.
There not that expensive can easily lift a human (designed for upto 500kg on the furtherest settings mostly and with some clever modification could be exatcly what you need. Basicaly they sit on 4 heavy duty legs on a bit U base which is designed to be rolled under car engine bays. If the main support going to the U was removed then new base was made into concrete with a swival made on the main support so to speak and a plastic/metal school chair attached you could pick her up then swing it into the pool and lower it, There mostly hydrolic operated so no heavy cranking and lifting for you (i am assuming you are a similar age to your wife). I imagine some kinda of contration could be made for between $500 and $1000 with careful selection of tradies. Re: help to get my wife into swimming pool 5Mar 30, 2006 8:28 pm I know it's month's later, but.... you can contact the council, and they will put you in touch with places that can help. there are chairs available that will lift her into the pool, go to this site and perhaps ring and ask them. www.mle.com.au Re: help to get my wife into swimming pool 6Nov 17, 2006 7:52 pm Sirgoat has stolen my thunder, but it really is a good idea. I use engine cranes quite a bit and it would be an almost perfect solution. There are commercially available webbing seats that could be attached to the beam of the crane, and I'm sure that with a little fabrication, a crane could be made into a fixture at the side of a pool. They aren't terribly expensive...around the $500 mark. If all you can see are obstacles, you have lost sight of the goals Re: help to get my wife into swimming pool 7Nov 18, 2006 7:01 pm If there is a retirement village nearby, they might be able to put you in touch with thier supplier (if they have one). Also try searching for a locla hydrotherapy place, and ask them as well ??
Good luck. Adrian B The last home I lived in didn't have a pool and when i went to sell it the agents were not happy, even telling me to put one in to sell the place. The agents weren't happy… 2 4257 I use Tramex moisture meter and it will tell me instantly if the wall is cement sheet or plaster or masonite but most people dont have the equipment. 5 7095 |
