Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Aug 08, 2011 11:24 am I want to renovate our kitchen and need some advice. Whether we do or not will come down to costings so I need to find the cheapest way to renovate. Our kitchen cupboards are pretty much in the right place but all of the doors need changing and two laminate side panels will need replacing. Is it cheap enough to have only new doors made up as the insides of the cupboards are in good nick. I don't know much about kitchen benchtops - ours is sort of ironed on plastic. What is the best value benchtop - is it synthetic stone or is there an alternative that looks good and is very tough? Does anyone have any recommendations as to who to get to quote for the benchtop and the cupboards? I live in Perth. Re: cupboard doors and benchtop - cheap reno sought 2Aug 08, 2011 11:32 am The bench tops and doors are the biggest cost in a kitchen. If you are handy and can fit them yourself then there is money to be saved in just doing doors and tops BUT If you have to have it all done it becomes almost as expensive! I have quote doors and bench tops V full kitchen a number of times and there is usually about $3000-4000 difference. Remember you will need to have a plumber and sparky to a full disconect and reconect and you will most likely need to replace the splash back aswell. Laminate is the cheapest option for bench tops at around 1/3 the cost of stone!
