Oooh I'm so excited, thank you for taking an interest, I really wasn't sure what kind of replies, if any, I would receive, so I thank you! I like earth tones, and from searching through this site, have found some nice Dulux colours: Dulux Stone Dulux Oyster Dulux Beige Royal Dulux Surfmist (maybe too light??) Dulux Jasper I'm after three colours; light, medium and dark (accent). Weatherboards will be the light colour. Render medium colour Dark colour I guess will be front stairs/balustrade/posts on front veranda Not sure what depth for the garage doors, whether it would be the same as render as it's same area or make it stand out? Re: Colour ideas for 70's High Set house 8Aug 05, 2011 11:32 am yes earth tones would be nice. michelle will know more. I just go by pics I see on line/ magazines/ in the area and copy! are there any pics you have seen that would look good? that are already done. Oooh you are gooood! Thank you! What I've noticed about the weatherboard homes around our neighbourhood, is a lot of them have stuck to the heritage colours Green or Burgundy with creams, which do suit the style home. I am just wondering if modern colours in these older style homes, whether it would be able to carry the look or not. Particlulary after looking at the link you posted http://www.trademe.co.nz/property/resid ... 774780.htm these are modern-type colours but I don't like it on this house; something just doesn't 'do it' for me, there's no 'wow' factor???? Maybe needs more depth with a darker accent colour perhaps? I dunno, the whole colour thing does my head in! hahaha Re: Colour ideas for 70's High Set house 12Aug 05, 2011 1:58 pm Is there a way to search a colour combination to see if it works? I have come across: Dulux Tapestry Beige Dulux Light Leather Dulux Ceylonese they come from the same family of colours but would love to see if anyone has used on their home and what colour painted where? Re: Colour ideas for 70's High Set house 13Aug 05, 2011 2:31 pm I think there was a thread 'what house sketch site do you use' or summin, and you could design your home and do colours I think my only tip (as useless with colours) is pay $4 and buy the 3 test pots and give it a go. you are going to paint the home anyway, so if you dont like it, it will be painted over later. maybe do a google search for 'paint combinations' ?? or wait for michelle to get back on here and she will be able to help you. she is way busy, so might not be till tonight or tomorrow I think modern will look good, dont follow the heritage trend! my fav was this one in a 2 tone and then dark below. http://www.trademe.co.nz/property/resid ... 093208.htm Re: Colour ideas for 70's High Set house 15Aug 05, 2011 2:38 pm the joinery dates it, so use a colour that will make the joinery look trendy and a joinery colour people will ask for in the future deceive them..........
