Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 05, 2011 11:21 am Hey All! Thought it was about time I started a thread for our build, as we've finally started to make some progress. Were a young couple, first time builders and have had our block of land for about 4 years now (I know ages!) in Campbelltown, Sydney. When we first purchased the block there were a couple of other vacant blocks around us but since then, homes have gone up and were the lucky last on the street to build. We've been saving for a deposit and trying to pick a design! We went along to the open day at Oran Park and fell in love with the Monte Carlo from Fowler, we signed with them around August last year and have completed Colour selections and are now in the process right before slab. Well enough rambling! To the photos! Bottom Floor Layout: Top Floor Layout: The Front and back Elevations: Side Elevations: So far everything has gone smoothly only slight drama was soil removal which they originally quoted us 600 tonnes to be removed with a hefty price, we sourced our own removal and so far have saved $12,000 We've had around 400tonnes removed so far and are hopefully not looking at any or much more. Heres pictures of our site before soil removal. So lots to go yet! Fun times ahead! Cant wait to share with everyone! www.tinas-cakery.com Building a Monte Carlo with Fowler Homes. I'm really happy for you as I have followed your posts with Fowler experiences with regards to your long waiting for a council approval. Thanks for sharing your build and experiences with Fowler as we also build Vienna40 with Fowler as well. Fowler submitted our DA a month ago but we still wait for council approval! If you don't mind, please share your experience to save money on 400tonnes soil removal. Ths Re: Our First Build! Pictures inside! 10Aug 03, 2011 2:31 pm Hi Everybody! Sorry about the gap between postings, been super busy lately and working out lots of little things. Today we have lift off! Today the slab is being poured!!! Haven't gone to see it as of yet but will do soon. So since I last posted we have had a couple of hiccups, more soil removal, extra piering was required (50 lineal meters was included but it went over to 75) Also when they were excavating they seem to have dug at a funny angle to the neighbours fence and now their fence is err.. sloping and this needs to be fixed up. Still some soil removal to be done but there is rubbish all on top of it at the moment and need the concretors to clean that all up first. Still need to upload our colour selections for you guys to have a peek at, try to get around to that on the weekend. No window furnishings have been organized as of yet, we didn't even get flyscreens as we were over our budget already with the bi-fold doors haha. Here are some more photos of the progress so far. www.tinas-cakery.com Building a Monte Carlo with Fowler Homes. Pictures inside! 16Aug 05, 2011 8:39 am Thanks everyone! Were both really excited. We did use someone local, just rang around got quotes and he turned out to be the cheapest. They are all options from Fowler when we did the colour selections with them. I'll pop around to the site tomorrow and get some photos and do a slab dance yay!! www.tinas-cakery.com Building a Monte Carlo with Fowler Homes. Pictures inside! 19Aug 08, 2011 7:13 am Oh I do love my kitchen sink! It's funny because when we went to the colour selection I saw it sitting propped up against the wall and I asked how much, only to be told "its not cheap". So I pushed it out of my mind and after going home I couldn't stop thinking about this sink, and in my mind I justified and convinced myself that we have already spent so much on this 100mm ceaser stone island bench top that I MUST get the right sink for it. So after a email back telling them I just had to have it, we got ours for like $700ish. www.tinas-cakery.com Building a Monte Carlo with Fowler Homes.
