I'm also happy with who got the chump shirts. +2 The girls' room was fab - their gamble paid off. I wondered what on earth J & J were thinking with that panelled wall? And the colour was awful; it really did look quite navy (Josh was right. Don't tell Jenna!). I thought the other rooms were good too, but the girls' stood out. Funny, I quite like all the couples except for you-know-who... So do I. I just like the girls the best, since I've been reading Katrina's blog for a while. Judie Re: “The Block” 105Jul 31, 2011 10:32 pm YAY Go Team Sista! That pic at the bottom of the steps really did look spectacular - I was so worried the judges wouldn't like it, they can be so picky (and sometimes sexist I think). Cant wait to see the kitchens next week! A thankful person is a happy person. Along with the coffee table! Everyone knows kitchens are the most expensive part of a house internally to do, let’s see what they all do with very little money left. This should be worth watching…….. Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: “The Block” 108Aug 01, 2011 7:39 am As far as the money goes, they have vouchers for things like appliances and furniture, and some hardware - so if they've used those wisely, they ought to have enough left. It's the cash to pay trades and for items from (non-sponsor's) shops where they don't have vouchers that they're all a bit short on. Which explains how they can still complete a room, when they complain about having only $2000 left, or whatever.... At least, that's my understanding. “The Block” 111Aug 01, 2011 6:56 pm rosypaige I bought the latest copy of House & Garden today and it has the kitchens in it. Whose looks good? Re: “The Block” 112Aug 01, 2011 6:57 pm kyton I wondered about that Kek - kept thinking how are the tradies still doing stuff when there are no $. In the first episode (once the couples were in the houses), they were given their Windows laptops and phones and a heap of vouchers from Freedom, Carpet Call, Mitre 10 and so on. Plenty of advertising for the sponsors! They need cash for the trades, but some work is obviously included for all of them, such as roof repairs, staircases, supply and installation of heaters, HWS and other essential items. “The Block” 113Aug 01, 2011 7:00 pm Jenna & Josh were wearing Freedom Kitchen jumpers last night. Must be worth a couple of $$$. Re: “The Block” 114Aug 02, 2011 7:15 pm Rups rosypaige I bought the latest copy of House & Garden today and it has the kitchens in it. Whose looks good? I picked up the magazine today, and there's only one Block kitchen that I could see - it's a full page photo, in an ad for Freedom Kitchens. It doesn't say whose it is, but I'm betting Polly & Waz's, judging from the layout and the old timber floorboards. Noice, anyway. Re: “The Block” 115Aug 02, 2011 9:16 pm I don't know about anyone else, but I'm really liking The Renovators on 10 atm. less crap, more reno/building work, challenges. I'm not into Top Design, most of their ideas are horrible to me. Anyone else?? A thankful person is a happy person. I'm not into Top Design, most of their ideas are horrible to me. Anyone else?? I'm liking The Renovators too - be interesting to see what they can do on limited budgets The fibro house for a start will need a lot of money spent on it - re-stumping for a start with only around $62K all up?? Also not sure how the whole thing is going to work with eliminations etc They seem to be more inspiring with ambitious ideas, but time will tell Actually thought there would already be a thread on The Renovators, nearly started one myself (unless I have missed it) “The Block” 118Aug 03, 2011 7:23 am "The Renovators" is doing terribly in ratings. In the first week they couldn't pull close to a million viewers on a single night. Apparently The Block is winning hands down. I did watch The Renovators last night - will be very interesting to see how those houses turn out on their budgets. Some things are worth waiting for. Re: “The Block” 119Aug 03, 2011 7:31 am Abby Hi, All four kitchens were in the September, House and Garden. They are on page 272. Found them last night. Mostly tiny photos, but I like the look of Rod & Tanya's. K & A's might be a bit too industrial for my taste... I'll reserve judgement till I see the whole room though. Re: “The Block” 120Aug 03, 2011 8:05 am I'm into the Renovators too-been watching for a couple of weeks-would love access to the warehouse they've had! But Melbourne water only wanted something the original size of the existing house. We managed to fit a 45sq house on. 10 33668 4 4499 |
