Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Apr 20, 2007 11:06 am I require some additional R2 insulation batts. In Bunnings current cataloge they have them listed. I went to my local Bunnings (Morley) last night to check the pack coverage etc only to find they don't stock this size, it was suggested I check their Balcatta store. Have just phoned them this morning and have been told we don't have R2's, I said but its in your cataloge, the bloke checks yep you're right let me check the computer yep we have the listed but we have never and don't stock R2's. Re: They advertise it but have never/don't stock it 2Apr 20, 2007 12:03 pm Sounds like 'bait advertising' http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/guides/baitads-gd.htm

I used to work at Bunnings and I reckon it wasn't deliberate. The main office organises the catalogues, as well as purchasing many of the items for the stores for the catalogues. Even if that guy hadn't ordered any himself, DC might have ordered it for the store in time for that promotional material. Bunnings is a crazy place sometimes and sometimes staff don't have the full picture of what's going on, unfortunately for the customers. Also, it says down the bottom of the catalogue "Some advertised services and products not available at some Bunnings stores, but may be ordered". Go see your "Special Orders" counter (or call them) - they can look up if that is a stocked item, if it is on order and if it isn't, order it for you and give you an ETA. It will be easier if you take the catalogue or let them know the "fineline" number (in the catalogue it will say FL and a 7 digit number). By the way, if you've never visited a Special Orders counter before, you'll be very interested.... they can order just about anything for you. (That's what I used to do some years ago!). I do get frustrated with Bunnings staff sometimes (like the ones who served you) because they should be better for customers, Bunnings was and is a really great company. I was annoyed by two teenage boys tonight who were standing a metre away from me (chatting!) who didn't help me lift something that clearly had written in huge letters "Two person lift". Hmmpft. Still, there are loads of good people there, and no, I seriously don't work for them anymore, I finished my degree and now work in education. Hope you do get your insulation batts and if you think it is bait advertising, definitely follow it up. That sucks! Hope it all works out. Good to move away from steel anyway for all your reasons, but it's also thermally poor. 16 17857 My door tends to rub against the frame during winter and I'm looking to fix it so it closes smoothly.
