I am pre gyprocking stage and can add extra timber now if necessary. I do not want the situation of these accessories pulling off the wall. If you can add noggins i'd say go for it My building thread : viewtopic.php?f=31&t=36059 Paid initial deposit 24/7/10 Tender appointment 20/8/2010 Flooring and tile appointment 25/9/10 Colour and Electrical appointment 13/9/10 December site start delayed Site start (YAY!) 17/1/11 Slab pour 1/2/2011 Re: noggins for towel rails & toilet roll holders? 3Jul 21, 2011 11:51 am Imho, it's not a bad idea to put extras near the loo and shower for a grab rail to be fitted sometime down the track, even if they never get used it's better they are there...than not!! If you ever have major surgery at any time you will truly appreciate having a rail for support. Some builders (like mine) wouldn't do it though, too disagreeable and lazy...then again lots of things weren't done so not surprising. Re: noggins for towel rails & toilet roll holders? 4Jul 21, 2011 12:05 pm We did. Like you, we didn't want to ever have the towel rails and toilet roll holders come off the wall. My sister didn't add them and now has that happening in her house. They fix it, but then it just happens again a few months later. If you don't want it happening to you, i say definitely add them! Well worth it in my books! Re: noggins for towel rails & toilet roll holders? 6Aug 30, 2011 7:46 pm Ditto I sat the pan on the floor where it was meant to go and felt for the most comfortable position to secure the roll holder and put noggins there. I also put extra noggins in for where the towel rail, hand towel rail, mirrors for the wall, vanity securing points, shower screen securing points, next to power points where I thought I might want a shaving shelf, everywhere i could think of. It paid of in the end as everything is now well secured. Just remember to record EXACTLY where all these extra noggins are to find them easy. Re: noggins for towel rails & toilet roll holders? 8Aug 31, 2011 7:26 am We decided to put noggins in the bathroom and ensuite just before plastering, mainly for the heated towel rails. Its the best decision we made. We bought the towel rails and they were installed yesterday. http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g465/allstarz8/Ensuite.jpg http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g465/allstarz8/BthTowelRail.jpg The guy said if we didn't have the noggins there, he could still do it but the rails would come loose after a while. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All new built homes look like display homes... until the furniture goes in. noggins for towel rails & toilet roll holders? 9Aug 31, 2011 7:33 am They are lovely Starz. Thanks Hi lewispa, Ours are 500mm from floor level. But it really depends on where the noggins are and if the electrician is clever enough to put the electrical point near the noggins. I've seen some homes with electrical points too high and centered, but our electrician had done this before so we were relieved. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All new built homes look like display homes... until the furniture goes in.
