Our building thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=51657 Re: What are you most looking forward to? 46Jul 08, 2011 4:40 pm I can see a thread forming here - we are all looking forward to a nice, warm comfortable home. I have never been so cold as I am in this rental with its gas ducted hearing. It blasts out some hot air then switches off until the ice settles on the end of my nose and then it kicks back in again till you are just thawing out and then it's gone again. We are thinking of watching TV in bed tonight after we've had dinner We are lucky though with inspections - only had one in nearly 9 months - I think ours can't be bothered so long as we pay the rent For info on our build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43093 Built the McLaren by Dechellis - slab down 22 Feb - handover 30 Aug 2011 - and gardens finished 9 Dec 2012!! Re: What are you most looking forward to? 47Jul 08, 2011 4:47 pm well what am i most looking forward too,now thats a hard one as i love my house im in atm,but in saying that im just looking forward too a change. We have been here for 18 year's and i think its just about having a new place new surroundings and something different... the house we are building isnt alot different too what i have here,we have a few things a bit different like a double garage and an ensuite but other than that i find it too b much the same.. just want it built and us in it and this 1 sold...not asking alot now am i??? yes im just looking forward too a change.... Re: What are you most looking forward to? 48Jul 08, 2011 5:07 pm Hi everyone - first time poster here. We are living in a small rental while our house is being built on the Gold Coast. It feels like it's been ages but our house is now at fixing stage so hopefully not too much longer..... Anyway I'm most looking forward to: Having our big fridge actually fit in our kitchen and not having to go to the garage all the time! A pantry big enough that I can actually see what food I have for my always hungry family of 4. Getting out into the garden, which is non-existent at the moment and entertaining more. Having more than one downlight in each room so I can see what I am reading without getting eye strain. FINALLY handing back the keys of this rental (and getting the keys to our own place). And of course space, space and more space!!!! Re: What are you most looking forward to? 49Jul 08, 2011 6:00 pm In our home for >12mths and the thing I am looking forward to the most is seeing the plants which we have planted mature and seeing the gardens complete. Oh dear ... most of that is exactly what I could have written - except we've got orange laminate not green. I'm so looking forward to more than one person in the house having the hot shower! ~ trying to build our dream home by the sea ~ Re: What are you most looking forward to? 51Jul 08, 2011 9:40 pm We haven't even begun the build, but I'm most looking forward to having a place for everything. Probably a bit much to hope for everything in its place, but we can dream! ------ Knocking down to build the Henley Emperor Q2 in Cheltenham, Vic http:\\ourcheltenhamemperor.net\ Re: What are you most looking forward to? 52Jul 08, 2011 9:54 pm Oh ESB, I am not sure which is worse - my green or your orange! I do sometimes look at the bright green laminex AND bright green large round drawer knobs and wonder 'What were they thinking????' The only benefit is that there isn't that much bench space in our rental so there isn't that much green laminex! The big plus about living in a rental prior to building is that you learn what you definitely need in your new house and what you definitely do not want!! I agree with that one! This house has helped us so much with our build - we had a huge list of NO's! You know the sad thing about this place with the orange (orange kitchens, bathrooms, roof tiles, house render, concrete around the house) ... is the house is only 10 years old - have no idea what they were thinking! ~ trying to build our dream home by the sea ~ Re: What are you most looking forward to? 54Jul 08, 2011 11:08 pm Oh dear - only 10 years old - WHAT were they thinking, indeed?? I think living in a place with hideous (permanent) colours has only reinforced my thoughts for white/cream decor and accessorising with colours that can easily be changed! LOL! I had a giggle at that, reminds me of our house ! The house we live in atm is our first home which we purchased as an investmnent. Never thought back then we would be living in it after our first born came as a surprise 3 years after. I know all too well about the thought of "what were they thinking" Our house was blue blue blue! Blue walls, doors, tiles, carpet, kitchen, concrete, garage doors, gutters, etc! I can't wait to get out of "the blue house"!
