Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Our custom build in the Barossa - Bricking & Roofing!!!! 341Jul 06, 2011 12:47 pm Great stuff Rebecca - progress - can't wait to see your house with it's roof on For info on our build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43093 Built the McLaren by Dechellis - slab down 22 Feb - handover 30 Aug 2011 - and gardens finished 9 Dec 2012!! Re: Our custom build in the Barossa - Bricking & Roofing!!!! 342Jul 08, 2011 7:40 pm Sorry it has taken me so long but here we go!!! Bricking complete, Roof on, just a little to go at the front once the hardiboard and render is on. Finished off some internal framing - coffered ceiling, kitchen bulkhead and fireplace etc. We are very happy with the build and feel great whenever we go over there.....however we have just been notified that our rental is about to be placed on the market. If it goes before we get handover...we'll be stuffed. VERY upset about this.....but just trying to focus on the house. Here's some pics as promised ages ago!! Front elevation - cant wait to see the render...that portico feels SO high at the moment. We have decided to get the bricks cleaned.....being that 99% is facebrick, we want it to look it's best! Re: Our custom build in the Barossa - Outside almost done PI 344Jul 08, 2011 8:49 pm Looks great Rebecca! I'm amazed, I reckon our front facade would just about be identical, double portico thing, 2 rooms to one side with double windows, garage on other side, rendered pillars, we seem to be showing similar taste Looking forward to seeing your outside complete, ours is also a custom so I have no idea how it will turn out but yours will be a good guide Building our custom design "Dream Home" Follow my Build - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=46820 Contract Signed - 28/04/11 Siteworks Commenced - 20/06/11 Re: Our custom build in the Barossa - Outside almost done PI 345Jul 08, 2011 8:53 pm Your house is moving along, looks so big Re: Our custom build in the Barossa - Outside almost done PI 346Jul 08, 2011 9:11 pm Yay for pictures!! and builders cleaning up after themselves too! Your house is looking gorgeous. The facade looks awesome. Sorry to hear about your rental. Did you have a lease agreement? Will the owner let you sign a lease agreement now for a short period? That would protect you from being kicked out by the new owner. Hopefully, if they wouldn't do that, the house takes ages to sell anyway. It wouldn't surprise me if it does in the current market. Pain about the opens though in the meantime. Re: Our custom build in the Barossa - Outside almost done PI 348Jul 09, 2011 12:16 pm I agree with Theresa, the market is very slow with lots of houses for sale at the moment. Love the way your house is coming along; views to die for through those windows/doors! Very impressive portico/entry too. https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43937&start=0 Bought a block in Golden Grove - Jan 2011 Finally finished our design, Mar 2012, *yay* Signed with ADH council consent June 12 Re: Our custom build in the Barossa - Outside almost done PI 350Jul 10, 2011 9:46 pm Thanks guys, it will be interesting to see how things eventuate with the rental. Rebecca Custom Build with Kersbrook Constructions - SA https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=37762 Current Status: Handover on Thursday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Re: Our custom build in the Barossa - Outside almost done PI 358Jul 12, 2011 9:31 am Rebecca, this is the difficult time waiting for tradies to arrive and work to be done. Some days there will be no-one there and other days there may be 2 or 3 different trades. Wait till you get to lock up - it's all going on inside and you can't see it - it's such a tease!! Just think - it will soon be Xmas and you'll be in your new home ..... Re: Our custom build in the Barossa - Outside almost done PI 359Jul 12, 2011 11:31 am I suggest making the house as messy as possible for open inspections - that may delay a purchase!! ------------------------------------------------------ Handover: 14 December 2010 Current: Putting in plants! We are now fairly hopeful that it wont go before we are ready to move out because....... I met onsite again with our builder - took out some coffees!!! (This discussion is in another thread too, I think some 'sweeteners' go along way!!!) And he mentioned that our kitchen is booked in to be installed in 5 weeks!!!! Was I excited yesterday!!! So not really sure how long it generally takes after that, painting, tiling etc but maybe another 6 weeks?!?!?! So that takes us out to about 3 months, late October!!!??? Early November!!!??? And as we have not been given a written 90 days notice as yet, we should be right. So our cavity sliding doors to the home theatre are in, walling for fireplace is in and more sweeping done!! LOL We are away next week as is the builder so he has organised insulation for then and gyprocking for the following week. And I guess it will be all go from then!! Have a great day! I'd get the gutters to match your roof and pipes to match the paint - otherwise they become a feature. Nice pick with the paint colours! 1 34824 6 56161 Congrats. Will be watching this progress and interested to see how you go with summit. 12 34340 |
