Browse Forums Building A New House Re: BUILDING IN JORDAN SPRINGS 21Jul 01, 2011 8:28 pm Hi Seabreeze I got a tender from a builder who gave the figure to put the cable connection to the garage wall as 2800 (GST included....what a joke). To drag the cable from to two outlets into the home for 5000$ seems to be daylight robbery. It would be good idea to contact the guys what nrh157 mentioned in one of the previous posts. Pls post the quote you get here...so we all can counter the quotes from builders Re: BUILDING IN JORDAN SPRINGS 22Jul 05, 2011 11:14 am Seabreeze, I'm paying $2,800 and for that I get * fibre cable from the footpath to a Carrier Termination Cabinet (CTC) box, * a CTC box on the garage wall; and * internally I get 1 x triple plate (containing a data point, a TV point and a phone point), 1 x separate TV point and 1 x separate phone point. Doesn't sound a lot for $2,800, but sure is a lot less than $5,000. Sounds like they don't want to do it so deliberately over-quote. The actual fibre cable is not that expensive, so I really don't know why the costs are so high. For a post-construction installation, try HIX from Penrith - they may be in a position now to give you a quote. normette Building a Firstyle, Oran 30 aka THE BIG 'O' Re: BUILDING IN JORDAN SPRINGS 23Jul 06, 2011 10:16 am Hi all... I have at last decided to go with Kurmond Homes. Bit wary that they have so much houses coming up in Jordan Springs and will they be able to follow up on their commitments ..but they were very cost effective with regard to the type of house I needed. Firstyle didn't even bother to get back to me after the tender process and I found their tender stretching my budget. Anyway Kurmond homes, Iris 31 suited my ideas and budget also. And they were very accommodating with the variations we needed. And like Hep, its mighty helpful if you are dealing with the directors of the company. Re: BUILDING IN JORDAN SPRINGS 24Jul 11, 2011 2:49 pm For some reason I wasn't getting emails for new posts. I'm a bit of a techie hence why I was keen for wired connections, I'm trying to over do it perhaps as I always want the best connection and nothing is better then wired, then I slapped myself in the face and woke up a little. I'm having some different thoughts but I can do some of the stuff myself. Even in my current house I have a good wireless connection and wired to most rooms. Wireless is fine for general use PC's and laptops. Wired is better for TV IMO and defiantly better for online or local LAN gaming (Which I like to do from time to time). Anything affected by latency means you will want a wired connection. I'll probably go with a wireless point downstairs and upstairs for the laptops, I'll then go wired into the two lounge rooms and one wired connection upstairs in the upstairs living. In the end I'll probably go crazy. I'll get the cabinet and connection installed and then have my own guy do the points. Kurmond homes allows me to use my own installer so I'll be using a mate who installs this stuff for a living to save me some money. Yeh bit annoyed with the recycled water letter. My builder included it so wasn't to much of an issue for me. Would have been nice to know we had it as a back up though. There are two components - the first is for the period from Registration 20/12/10 until 30 June 2011 and the second component is for the full financial year 1 July 2011 to 30 June 2012. If, like me, you paid the Vendor at Settlement an amount to cover rates from settlement to 31 June 2011, you'll need to contact your solicitor to have the first component paid by the Vendor. normette Building a Firstyle, Oran 30 aka THE BIG 'O' Re: BUILDING IN JORDAN SPRINGS 27Jul 26, 2011 8:58 pm Does anyone know if the display homes are open yet and what company's are building display homes in Jordan Springs? Re: BUILDING IN JORDAN SPRINGS 29Jul 26, 2011 9:49 pm I got a letter and it stated mid August opening, the town square would open at the same supposedly. The park is open and it's looks great, it's also nice to see a lot of homes have started going up too. All swinging into action now. I talked to HIX and OSA communications. These were the people recommended by Delfin after much prodding. To be frank they both do not have any clear ideas about who is going to provide the conduit from the cables. OSA said they will contact me after getting all the details 4 weeks ago. They didnt call me, so I called them again yesterday got the response that there is no network yet. When told that Fujitsu had already installed the cables, got the response that no clear info from Delfin about it and who connects it to the network. But they will send me a quote with the details they have ( )HIX gave a futuristic quote for my friend building in Glenmore Ridge as the network there still has to be laid. It came to around 3000. Kindly post if you get any idea about the FTTH in jordan springs. Re: BUILDING IN JORDAN SPRINGS 31Oct 07, 2011 10:03 am Hey Mashp, The FTTH carrier was supposed to be Openetworks, but the Openetworks web site has removed Jordan Springs as one of it's communities. Interesting times to come normette Building a Firstyle, Oran 30 aka THE BIG 'O' Re: BUILDING IN JORDAN SPRINGS 32Oct 07, 2011 12:10 pm I just logged into openetworks and there is a message which I have copied ATTENTION: Please be advised that OPENetworks is NOT the fibre provider for Jordan Springs. For information regarding Fibre to the Home please contact your developer So that says everything. I had my fears 3 weeks ago when I read somewhere that Bunya in Doonside is the first development to connect to the NBN. I have contacted Delfin and waiting for their reply. I have wasted lot of time trying to find out what Fibre optic is and how is going to be connected to my house. Fingers..crossed Re: BUILDING IN JORDAN SPRINGS 33Oct 13, 2011 3:25 pm Hi Normette Good to see your house coming up very fast. Saw your roof tiles going up yesterday. Got a quote from HIX..1xCTC,1XHDC,2 PHONE PTS,4 TV POINTS,5 DATA POINTS, TESTING AND COMMISIONING..comes to around 3000$. Looks cheap compared to your cabling. But there is a catch, lead in conduit to be provided by Builders Electrician...including draw string. Add more $$ to that also. Re: BUILDING IN JORDAN SPRINGS 34Oct 13, 2011 4:24 pm Mashp, I've already paid for my FTTH through my builder, so I'm locked in now. Que Sera. I saw your plans on the council DA Tracker - very exciting. You're having the same Slimline profile roof tiles as we are. I'm jealous of your big backyard too. I'm lazy so I sacrificed walking up the stairs for less rear lawn. Hope you get started soon and it's all smooth sailing. Good luck normette Building a Firstyle, Oran 30 aka THE BIG 'O' Re: BUILDING IN JORDAN SPRINGS 35Oct 25, 2011 12:44 pm Our frame has just gone up, and our electrician has told us NOW is the time we need to say yay or nay to the FTTH... Open Networks isnt doing it anymore, and Fujitisi arent taking on the contact... Delfin have now told us that OptiCom is the provider.... Hopefully Opticom can give us a few answers being such a new product our builder isnt overly familiar with the process of getting it conected and even Delfin seem to be uncertain as to how its all going to work... Considering I am in the second release I feel for those of you in the 1st release some houses there are almost completed and they still havent been able to get a definate plan! :S Re: BUILDING IN JORDAN SPRINGS 36Oct 25, 2011 1:04 pm Hopefully this helps!!! I just received this email from Delfin: We are finalising a contract with a new provider, OptiComm and are conscious that you are in the process of arranging construction of your home. Jordan Springs is not registered as a community on their website at the moment so the 1300 number will not apply, however there is a lot of useful information on the website to assist you. http://www.opticomm.net.au/ The key components you will need are in the section called Useful Information. Cheers, Nadine & Brad Re: BUILDING IN JORDAN SPRINGS 37Nov 07, 2011 10:21 pm Greetings neighbours... But I have nearly gave up chasing that and had received a quote from my builders cabler which seems very reasonable and plan to go with it. HIX quote was quite exorbitant compared to this..
