We are both building prestige 33 square houses in Saltwater Coast. Our contracts were signed about 2 months apart from each other, us earlier. The strangest difference was the price for the bush fire assessment. Ours is $600 and theirs is $250. Our blocks at most are 800 metres away from each other and are exactly the same size! So what I was wondering is, how much was your bush fire assessment? and, why would the price be different? Our SS hasn't called as he was supposed to on Tuesday, but I'm not terribly surprised since that call was supposed to come last Tuesday, the Monday before that and then sometime the week before that. My partner called the Lifestyle East manager today, to ask why it has been over a month since we heard from him considering that we were put into contact with him because it had been over a month since we heard from our SS. I don't have the strength to go back over my posts or my diary to see just how long this has been going on, but it has been a long time since we did our first (and second) PCIs, that turned out to be not PCIs, and as our home sat there with little done to it for a prolonged period of time after both we still don't know what is going on or when we can move in. Is there no accountability within PD for the fact that every single person we have dealt with has been outrageously inept throughout the duration of our build, often even being rude and insulting? That the quality of our home in many ways is appalling? That we are over contract date by almost a month and nobody bothers to contact us proactively? That our house sat there for 6 weeks or so with nothing actually done to it, despite numerous promises that we would be able to move in during that period? The latest is our SS and the Lifestyle East manager are apparently meeting at our block tomorrow to see what is happening and both have claimed that they will call us tomorrow and let us know what is going on. Of course, this exact thing also apparently took place some time ago and nothing came of it, neither of them contacted us and we only got a follow up after an email to our CSC, who for once sent us a prompt reply and said everything was under control but gave little details. That last contact was two weeks ago now. I've had an absolute gut full of this to be perfectly honest and if we get called in to do another "PCI" and the issues we had (many of which were major issues picked up by our independent inspector and were clearly not within the building standard and tolerances) have not been fixed I'm going to escalate this as high as I can go, publicly if need be. We will not be falling for the "move in now and we will come back and fix everything afterwards" line that a lot of people fall for and regret it when months, in some cases over a year, they are still waiting. Please pass this on to whomever may care within PD, because we do live two block away from a very new and very busy display village and if we ever do get to move in I do intend on inviting people visiting the displays to come in and view the quality of our home for themselves. I will not defame PD in any way, but I have every right to invite people into my home and the quality of the house you provide can speak for itself. I'm not going to go and buy a house in Toorak, as our SS suggested, as he is either unable or unwilling to uphold the standard of quality that PD claimed to provide when we signed on the dotted line. I just want what we are paying PD for, as per our contract and while I don't expect it to be a palace, I do expect the quality that PD profess to deliver. Your employees ought to take a little pride in the work they do and if they would not accept that kind of quality in their own home they shouldn't expect paying customers to do so either. I know our SS has been telling everyone that we are unreasonable and are expecting too much but that is not the case at all. We've been so patient and willing to compromise on many things and yet your service and the manner in which you treat us, as your customers, could honestly not be worse. When we complain everyone makes all the right noises and promises and then we never hear from them again and nothing improves. We are building in Werribbe's Vineyard Estate and we have a quarter acre. We were told by our PD administrator that usually the suburbs would be cheaper and anyone building in areas prone to bush fires would be dearer. I've driven to Saltwater Coast on a few occassions and it's not a bush fire threat area. I would be taking it up with PD but the fact you have signed the contract they may not reimburse you. But I would be arguing the point because you didn't have anyone to compare the cost until now and you took it in good faith that $600 was the correct price when infact it's not when your neighbour who is 800 mtr away is paying $250 plus puppyso and myself are also paying $250. Get them to justify why you were charged the $600. If they don't give you $350 back, I would be telling them to give you something in exchange for that amount. We also felt like this and really disapointed with our PD experience. We were moved in believing all faults had been rectified only to find more and more faults every day. We have our 3 mths inspection tomorrow and I have pages of lists. Reading a couple of posts (Jewelbaby's and Lunchtime's) and I know there are many more. It's not acceptable. If it wasn't for people choosing to build with you, PD would not exist as a company. People have paid good money to build their homes with PD and they expect higher standards in building and customer service than what they're getting. Remember, they've hired you to build for them so you actually work for them. People are building HOMES not a HOUSE. For some it's been a great process with minimal complaints, but for others you are destroying their hopes and dreams. All this comes from the top (Management). If the workers can get away with it and cut corners, they will and PD the company will be the ones getting the bad name in the long term. Hence people will stop building with you and you'll be out of business. For me to date PD have been good and looked after us but we haven't began building as yet.
