I actually got 3 additional heating vents and not two. Each vent cost $176 1 x main bathroom, 1 x ensuite, 1 x laundry (I thought it would be good to put one in the laundry because I will put a rod from one wall to the other to dry items that I can't put in the dryer and make use of the ducted heating when it's on.) Because I added 3 extra ducts, I had to upgrade to the Brivis HX35I which was another $759 on top. Since you are building the Waldorf, PD may be installing the HX35I due to the size of the home, just check. I have read somewhere in this forum that the Brivis HX35I is more energy efficent than the MX35I. I hope I have helped you. Hey guys, I'm building a Waldorf and the MX35i and the HX35i are both upgrades. Standard is a Volcan (don't know the model number).
Hi Guys, We were told the standard was the ME35i (see this thread when we just started enquiring about the heating/refrig cooling viewtopic.php?f=20&t=42021. Maybe they have since changed from when we signed up? Pupps we added a vent in the storeroom of the laundry so that we can use that as a drying room (took all the shelves out and will retrofit our own specific shelving.) I think because of the placement of the ducting they had to do a bit more work with the framework and take out a bit of room in WIR 2 so it was a bit more pricey for this placement. It was about another $400 or so. Mel
Hi Mel, I think you may be right that ME35i is the standard. We've had so many Brivis unit names thrown in our faces that I'm getting lost in it all. I did have a look at my notes and no mention of the ME35i. But maybe I upgraded the upgrade which got me to the HX35i
Team PD Jewelbaby Waiting, waiting, waiting, on a phone call that is probably never coming from our SS about when our house that is now almost a month over contract will be ready for PCI...... But in the interests of not "builder bashing", you know what PD are excellent at? Sending their invoices! Every single invoice they have sent us has come at least a week or two before each stage was completed, despite mistakes that had been pointed out with each stage that were not rectified until long after payment was expected. I think we have had the final invoice for months now! If only we could get the accounts department to run the rest of the company we would all be set! Hi Jewelbaby, I’m sorry to hear your frustration in waiting for your SS to call with a date for your PCI. Have they been in contact with you yet? I understand it’s a somewhat frustrating process to say the least. Saying this, I do believe it will all be worth it when you finally step inside your new beautiful home with a well-earned sigh of relief. Let me know if I can help you with getting in contact with them. Cheers, Ebony Hey guys The MX35i and the HX35i both output the same heat, which is a whooping 38kw. These are both huge units more than enough to fill the house with lovely hot air. The difference between both units is that the HX35i is rated 5.3 stars making it one of the most energy efficient units on the market for it size. You should save at least 30% in gas which will equate to $759 spend over a year and a half. Good investment I say. I confirmed the specs with some guy from coldflow. I wanted to check that I was getting the right units. Re: Porter Davis homes 2491Jun 23, 2011 12:32 pm Spoke with a really nice lady from Consumer Affairs yesterday, she agreed that it was ridiculous to have a porch that leaks and will contact the head office for resolution. tstr1a, that is interesting info - must check what we have! Roshi - sent you the driveway details by pm. Our house was left as is, no crushed rock etc around the perimeter. tstr1a has a great link on his blog about what the CSIRO guidelines are for maintenance. Now: Building another new home Settlement: 8 July 2021 Construction due to start: In two months Re: Porter Davis homes 2492Jun 23, 2011 5:56 pm Hi everyone & Ebony, Last night we were looking through the PD contract of friends of ours and noticed a few differences in the prices of things. We are both building prestige 33 square houses in Saltwater Coast. Our contracts were signed about 2 months apart from each other, us earlier. The strangest difference was the price for the bush fire assessment. Ours is $600 and theirs is $250. Our blocks at most are 800 metres away from each other and are exactly the same size! So what I was wondering is, how much was your bush fire assessment? and, why would the price be different? Re: Porter Davis homes 2493Jun 23, 2011 6:15 pm Team PD Hi Haywgl, Thank you for your interest in the paint colour at the Heathmont in Point Cook. Are you building with PD at the moment? Have you tried calling Hopetoun Interiors or contacting your Building Coordinator? They would be the best people to help answer your question. Let me know how you go. Cheers, Ebony No we already built with PD 2 years ago - we built the Cremorne and are now in the decorating stages which is why I wanted to know the paint colours I don't think my building co-ordinator/CSC is with PD anymore - her name was Krystal Zammit. If you could find out for me (or anyone else building with PD) it would be great as I think Hopetoun only deal with current clients and don't think they would have time for an old client My karma ran over your dogma Re: Porter Davis homes 2494Jun 23, 2011 9:00 pm Rups Hi everyone & Ebony, Last night we were looking through the PD contract of friends of ours and noticed a few differences in the prices of things. Cheers, Ebony No, not exactly. Our SS hasn't called as he was supposed to on Tuesday, but I'm not terribly surprised since that call was supposed to come last Tuesday, the Monday before that and then sometime the week before that. My partner called the Lifestyle East manager today, to ask why it has been over a month since we heard from him considering that we were put into contact with him because it had been over a month since we heard from our SS. I don't have the strength to go back over my posts or my diary to see just how long this has been going on, but it has been a long time since we did our first (and second) PCIs, that turned out to be not PCIs, and as our home sat there with little done to it for a prolonged period of time after both we still don't know what is going on or when we can move in. Is there no accountability within PD for the fact that every single person we have dealt with has been outrageously inept throughout the duration of our build, often even being rude and insulting? That the quality of our home in many ways is appalling? That we are over contract date by almost a month and nobody bothers to contact us proactively? That our house sat there for 6 weeks or so with nothing actually done to it, despite numerous promises that we would be able to move in during that period? The latest is our SS and the Lifestyle East manager are apparently meeting at our block tomorrow to see what is happening and both have claimed that they will call us tomorrow and let us know what is going on. Of course, this exact thing also apparently took place some time ago and nothing came of it, neither of them contacted us and we only got a follow up after an email to our CSC, who for once sent us a prompt reply and said everything was under control but gave little details. That last contact was two weeks ago now. I've had an absolute gut full of this to be perfectly honest and if we get called in to do another "PCI" and the issues we had (many of which were major issues picked up by our independent inspector and were clearly not within the building standard and tolerances) have not been fixed I'm going to escalate this as high as I can go, publicly if need be. We will not be falling for the "move in now and we will come back and fix everything afterwards" line that a lot of people fall for and regret it when months, in some cases over a year, they are still waiting. Please pass this on to whomever may care within PD, because we do live two block away from a very new and very busy display village and if we ever do get to move in I do intend on inviting people visiting the displays to come in and view the quality of our home for themselves. I will not defame PD in any way, but I have every right to invite people into my home and the quality of the house you provide can speak for itself. I'm not going to go and buy a house in Toorak, as our SS suggested, as he is either unable or unwilling to uphold the standard of quality that PD claimed to provide when we signed on the dotted line. I just want what we are paying PD for, as per our contract and while I don't expect it to be a palace, I do expect the quality that PD profess to deliver. Your employees ought to take a little pride in the work they do and if they would not accept that kind of quality in their own home they shouldn't expect paying customers to do so either. I know our SS has been telling everyone that we are unreasonable and are expecting too much but that is not the case at all. We've been so patient and willing to compromise on many things and yet your service and the manner in which you treat us, as your customers, could honestly not be worse. When we complain everyone makes all the right noises and promises and then we never hear from them again and nothing improves. Re: Porter Davis homes 2496Jun 23, 2011 10:28 pm Rups Hi everyone & Ebony, Last night we were looking through the PD contract of friends of ours and noticed a few differences in the prices of things. So what I was wondering is, how much was your bush fire assessment? and, why would the price be different? Hi Rups, Our is $250. We are building in Werribbe's Vineyard Estate and we have a quarter acre. We were told by our PD administrator that usually the suburbs would be cheaper and anyone building in areas prone to bush fires would be dearer. I've driven to Saltwater Coast on a few occassions and it's not a bush fire threat area. I would be taking it up with PD but the fact you have signed the contract they may not reimburse you. But I would be arguing the point because you didn't have anyone to compare the cost until now and you took it in good faith that $600 was the correct price when infact it's not when your neighbour who is 800 mtr away is paying $250 plus puppyso and myself are also paying $250. Get them to justify why you were charged the $600. If they don't give you $350 back, I would be telling them to give you something in exchange for that amount. What are the issues? Would be great to know what actually is wrong? Mel Re: Porter Davis homes 2498Jun 23, 2011 10:57 pm I've posted a number of things in this thread, in one of the other PD threads and in various threads I have started. I just don't have it in me to type it all out again or go looking so that I can link the posts, but the forum might have a search function whereby you can view all of my posts directly, rather than trawling through the forums for them. I just can't do it now I'm sorry, I'm down to my last single shred of patience and can't face it right now Re: Porter Davis homes 2499Jun 23, 2011 11:21 pm Jewelbaby, I understand what you are going through. We also felt like this and really disapointed with our PD experience. We were moved in believing all faults had been rectified only to find more and more faults every day. We have our 3 mths inspection tomorrow and I have pages of lists. Will report back and let you all know how its going Re: Porter Davis homes 2500Jun 24, 2011 1:26 pm Sorry, it's builder bashing time.....(Though I would call it CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM)...............Come on PD GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER . Reading a couple of posts (Jewelbaby's and Lunchtime's) and I know there are many more. It's not acceptable. If it wasn't for people choosing to build with you, PD would not exist as a company. People have paid good money to build their homes with PD and they expect higher standards in building and customer service than what they're getting. Remember, they've hired you to build for them so you actually work for them. People are building HOMES not a HOUSE. For some it's been a great process with minimal complaints, but for others you are destroying their hopes and dreams. All this comes from the top (Management). If the workers can get away with it and cut corners, they will and PD the company will be the ones getting the bad name in the long term. Hence people will stop building with you and you'll be out of business. For me to date PD have been good and looked after us but we haven't began building as yet. Is this where the nightmare begins; after you sign the contract.
