I love that you were able to sell your old home on gumtree & then rebuild on your own block, how good is that!?! ideal situation we have 2.2acres which we brought & it has a s****y little house (aka shoebox) on it already which we have moved into while the new house is build. Would love to be able to sell the shoebox but it would just fall apart I reckon. We have to demolish it after build completion but we are doing it ourselves. Looking forward to watching your build! Thanks Broom, yes we are pretty happy so far. The bricks are PGH Oyster. Unfortunately they are a painted brick which didnt realise at the time of selection - we didnt want painted bricks. We have had some issues with the colours of the ends of the bricks, however we have reached an agreement with PGH who will be rectifying this towards the end of the build. I will post some pics and show you what i mean. Same here...I didn't know about painted bricks either. I wouldn't have chosen painted bricks if I'd known mine were! Re: Building own design with Format SA 18Jun 11, 2011 10:40 am Yeah we were really dissapointed - you can see the brown coming throughoin our bricks on th pictures i have posted. PGH have arranged a company called Naw Kaw to paint (its not really a paint its some kind of oxide i think that penetrates the bricks) the bricks at the end of our build. We checked out their website and the results look pretty good. They give a 25 yer warranty on their product. We are going to check out some jobs that have been painted this weekend to make sure we are happy with the results. I think we should be made aware of bricks that are painted, so can change our mind if we want to before its too late. My ss said that due to the inconsistancy in bricks particularly the painted ones, that Austal have pulled down their displays and put up new bricks that show these inconsistancies so you know exactly what you may or may not get - rather than displaying a perfect brick. We now have an almost complete roof and a fair quanitty of bricks laid - soooooooooooo excited. I will post some pics later. Oh and have made amends with ss - he apologised for bad start, so homefully next few months will be much better now.
