petal, when u say ur splashback is starfire white, is that a specific brand/paint for it to be starfire white? cos i throught starfire was just the glass? a lady at hopetoun told me that the splashback that i wanted was starfire white (display home brookvale mernda) and i told my CSR that, and she told me that there was different types of white and i needed to be more specific...so i ended up just telling her to change it to the paint astor white, cos i couldnt be stuffed looking at it further...hehe our kitchen is going to be all white too! Re: Waterfall edge on L-shaped bench? 23Jun 19, 2008 2:03 pm Newbies, starfire glass is totally clear so what ever colour is painted on your wall the splashback will pick it up. I've also upgraded to starfire but am having dulux oyster linen painted on the back - the reason I upgraded was because I wanted the paint colour to look how it does on the sample and having the standard glass with the green tinge through it would have altered the colour - make sense.....hope so.....I'm in a rush! Happy at Home Re: Waterfall edge on L-shaped bench? 24Jun 19, 2008 2:05 pm vanderlay House-To-Be Vanderlay, what colour are your overhead cupboards? Laminex Pearl Grey. Thanks . Looks really good (oooh, feel my emoticons coming back ) Happy at Home Re: Waterfall edge on L-shaped bench? 25Jun 19, 2008 2:06 pm heheh thanks H2B, yea, we upgraded to starfire originally too, and had chosen calf skin splashback yukk...so i've recently changed the splashback colour to asotr white...ohh well, i'm too tired to second guess all my decisions now...hehe
cant wait to start building! woo hoo! Re: Waterfall edge on L-shaped bench? 26Jun 19, 2008 2:13 pm mikkyG House-To-Be Looks really nice, doesn't need a waterfall as your different colour cabinets are a feature in itself. Don't say that you almost had me sold on the waterfall, now I don't know again! *rolls on floor in pain* I'm confused...I thought you started building already? Are you still able to change your selections regarding a waterfall edge? Anyway, we have an L-shaped island with waterfall edges. I personally like the idea of a waterfall edge as I think it helps ground it. But I've also seen nice island benches without waterfalls. Guess it's just down to personal taste. But either way, whatever you decide, I think it will look good just with the colours you've described. [sneakersss] Re: Waterfall edge on L-shaped bench? 27Jun 19, 2008 2:15 pm Newbies heheh thanks H2B, yea, we upgraded to starfire originally too, and had chosen calf skin splashback yukk...so i've recently changed the splashback colour to asotr white...ohh well, i'm too tired to second guess all my decisions now...hehe cant wait to start building! woo hoo! no worries, all a bit confusing isn't it........when does your house start? Happy at Home Re: Waterfall edge on L-shaped bench? 29Jun 19, 2008 2:21 pm Newbies we're just waiting for our land in hawkstowe to be released/settled, and we have a site start in July....so only a month too go!!! Happy at Home Re: Waterfall edge on L-shaped bench? 30Jun 19, 2008 2:34 pm ehehe yea, we looked at mernda, but i couldnt deal with living another 5 mins further in >.< hehehe
we're currently in mill park, and all my friends call it the bush...wait til they see where we're going to live now! hahahaha Re: Waterfall edge on L-shaped bench? 31Jun 19, 2008 2:41 pm This threads been a hive of activity.
No we havent started building, we settle on the land tomorrow *fingers crossed* and we have all the selection appointments on monday/tuesday, then in 3 weeks we goto the contract meeting and then we are building Newbies, as H2B said the starfire refers to the glass that is used, starfire being the more expensive option (we were quoted around $450) that does not effect the tone of the underlying color. petal, yup, we are building the Illoura, that's as far as our young lil' wallets would allow for but should be plenty for me, Jackie and 2 ankle bitter puppies. The Brookvale now that's a house! what size? the one out a Mernda (50sq?) is a monster! Okay I've decided the waterfall edge is going in, unless it gets ripped back out for financial reasons, but I think we are good to go. Re: Waterfall edge on L-shaped bench? 33Jun 19, 2008 4:12 pm Newbies - good point. Our 'consultant' - and I use that term loosely, she was a young girl, who was NOT an interior decorator - never mentioned what white when we did our colour selection..hmmm...We are actually having Astor White walls throughout the house, so I guess it will be that. I just wanted a white, rather than clear glass, which has a naturally occurring green tinge to it. Now you've got me thinking....I'd better check that! We are also using the Brookvale @ Mernda as our base for everything!!! We're having a different facade to that, but we love the interior. We're having that staircase, and the fireplace, and the same toilet they have in the main ensuite (not the bidet!!!) but we're having it in the powder room as well.
mikkyg - sorry, I think I said I'd been in 'your' house in another thread - I'm getting confused about who's building what! Yes, the Brookvale is quite big - we have 4 children - 12, 10, 8 and 6, so they'll be at home for a while (everyone says they'll NEVER leave when they see the house plans!!! ) so we'll fill the space! We are building the big one - Bv50, but we're actually making it 54sq - we've added a bit to the Family Rm, and made the garage bigger, and had them build a room within the garage which we'll use as a gym /music room , so the garage will fit 2 cars, trailer and kids' bikes. We demolished and are rebuilding, so we were lucky, our block is 1047sqm, so we still have plenty of room. We plan on staying there a loooong time, so we figured we'd build it just how we want it. Can't wait till it's done!! Solidarity, not solidity.......The Lexicon of Life Re: Waterfall edge on L-shaped bench? 34Jun 19, 2008 4:48 pm Newbies ehehe yea, we looked at mernda, but i couldnt deal with living another 5 mins further in >.< hehehe we're currently in mill park, and all my friends call it the bush...wait til they see where we're going to live now! hahahaha Hawkstowe is a lovely Estate and I would happily have lived there. We wanted something 800sqm or bigger and at the time they didn't have anything. I don't think it's that far out. We are in Vermont now about 26k's from the City and I think Mernda is about 30k so not a great deal of difference. Hubby's work is just down the road at Heidelberg West and one of the reasons we are moving. I'm so pleased to see the Westfield has opened at Sth Morang, that was the only thing I needed near me! New school opening in 2010 on Bridge Inn Road so my three will all go to that. I just can't wait to have a new house!!! I think I remember someone saying that only light colors are really effected by the natural green in the standard glass. Hello everyone, After some suggestions and ideas about how to put a concrete path around the drop edge beam area on our new build. We are required to have a concrete path… 0 13554 get them to replace the chipped tiles. It will stick out like a sore thumb overwise. Also tiler will be siliconing the miters rather than grouting.
