We are building the Ivanhoe 36. Just to let you all know, we went to Austral Bricks on Saturday and as of Thursday last week alot of the bricks have been discontinued including all of the Melbourne series. We have gone to tender not knowing this and contract is next week. We are at loss as the bricks that are left to choose won't suit our facade. Also went to Carpet Court in Oakleigh on Sunday and the guy also mentioned that Porter Davis will stop dealing with them in the next couple of weeks. Before any of you go to tender or contract make sure and query all this. My partner and I are not happy as we went to tender knowing these bricks were available and now most of them won't be. We have colour selection this Wednesday. My partner will being calling PD today to find out what is going on because this is not acceptable and we won't be picking bricks we don't like. Now thats very interesting.. I just finished my tender appointment this morning, and have final colors in 12 days. Tell you what it pays to be prepared, at our tender we got the complete price. No changes from us required to move forward, and we have our electrical price already based off what people have stated here. So we are stoked, coming in about 7k under budget. From experience you can eat into that $7k quite fast the your tiles and electrical selections. Were your site costs reasonable? Need a p class slab (3 piers) but we got a 10k discount through the current promotions (so 2k actual cost) Re: Porter Davis homes 2095Jun 06, 2011 12:46 pm Tell you what it pays to be prepared, at our tender we got the complete price. Those of you who are with Prestige pick their bricks from Austral. Why I don't know because we do like bricks from the Boral range but we aren't allowed to go thru them as we are Prestige. What the hell!!!! As far as I know with Austral, the Homestead collection is still there. So you will be ok with that and a few others if you stick with that range. Some of the discontinued bricks that I can remember and we wanted are: The Lawson, Canterbury, Cotham, Newport, and The Hawthorne brick will be replaced with the Hawksburn, but when we went to the Deer Park display centre they didn't have a sample of the Hawksburn which we found very disappointing because this could be the brick we may like and Wednesday is our colour selection. Those of you who are close to Tender I would go down or ring Austral Bricks first to see what bricks are available. Hopetoun Interiors may not know 100% what's discontinued. I wouldn't trust the girls there anyway. At least this way if your choice of bricks are discontinued you know that you will have to look at others.
