Re: How often do you visit your site? 143Jun 07, 2011 1:30 pm we visit 3 times a week... we're currently renting a place 10 mins away from our new home. Re: How often do you visit your site? 144Jun 14, 2011 3:14 pm We were visiting our lot once a month (as construction hasn't started). But once construction starts, we are hoping to visit it once or twice or even three times a week. Due to issues we have had with dirt/debris dumping recently, I can no longer just simply put my 'trust' in people as I have done so. All is fine now and the mountain of dirt has been removed. But just from that experience (even before construction), I would feel more relieved if we can see everything that goes on, on a regular basis especially with construction side of things, where I've heard some bad stories. Also having photo evidence of everything that goes on, on those visits, just in case anything goes amiss. Re: How often do you visit your site? 145Jun 15, 2011 11:02 am we're going to be building on the same block we currently live on (as long as the council still agree in signing to what they said verbally) so im going to be looking at it everyday its going to be frustrating as it will feel like its going way too slow Re: How often do you visit your site? 146Jun 15, 2011 9:23 pm we are also living on the same block we are building on so I see if every day, which has been great, have been able to see alot of things like the cranes that I would otherwise have missed out on. Building NBG Buckingham 46 on Property in rural Victoria my Building Thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=46837 Re: How often do you visit your site? 147Jun 20, 2011 2:33 pm It depended on the stage of the construction. We visited several times a week towards the end when there were a lot going on. For example electrician wanted to check with us about light points, power points, etc. Before concrete, framing and brickwork it was once or two times a week to check on progress. We came across the carpenter and other tradies and would chat a bit with them. When the frames were up we organised to have kitchen company to take measurements for the kitchen. “It is good to have an end to journey toward; but it is the journey that matters, in the end” http://www.buildinganewhome.com.au Re: How often do you visit your site? 149Jun 29, 2011 4:48 pm Daily... because i live 3 minutes away from it This is during demolition. The 1 month wait for stuff to happen probably once a week. Once we start actually building, once a day again mehehe Re: How often do you visit your site? 150Jul 03, 2011 5:39 pm We go and visit once or twice a day. We live just down the street from our build so its great after a long day at work to drive and have a look to remind us why we are doing it Our updates from the builders are usually pointless as we know before them more often than not. I would go every day if I could. Re: How often do you visit your site? 152Jul 13, 2011 4:54 pm Our builder started the excavations on our block today so as the block is less than 1 minute drive from where we are renting I think it will be a daily visit on the way home from work from here on in. Re: How often do you visit your site? 153Jul 14, 2011 3:35 pm Hi there, I visited every day, sometimes twice and reported anything that was wrong straight away (with photos). I was also reminded about of the clause in the contract but they never enforced it. T. Re: How often do you visit your site? 154Jul 20, 2011 8:51 am I visit mine every day as I only live down the street. Rather than being excited about it, it just frustrates me to see how slowly it is going, particularly when I see the builders (same company) working on all the other houses in our street and then it rains on the days they are supposed to be working on ours and we fall further and further behind. Land at Chermside At tender stage Re: How often do you visit your site? 155Jul 20, 2011 2:48 pm So I visit nearly every day when I'm at home (so up to 5 days in a row out of 14), and get updates from the folks when I'm away. However, I've gone for 8 days now with no contact at all about progress (besides a call from the electricians about what they're going to do) cos the folks are in NZ and nobody else has cause to drive past that way. Hopefully it will mean good viewing when I get back tomorrow night! Re: How often do you visit your site? 158Jul 22, 2011 9:17 pm I go past everyday. I too also get frustrated as to how slowly some things progress. This week down pipes had been placed onto the bricks but there still not connected to the storm water pipes. My place is like a mud/clay wrestling pit. Re: How often do you visit your site? 159Jul 22, 2011 9:23 pm When we built, we moved a grand distance of 300m from our old place! Needless to say we had a look most days. But we never encroached while there was something going on there, without permission. Geoff - Decophile. Re: How often do you visit your site? 160Jul 22, 2011 11:25 pm Now that construction has started - a couple of times a week (during lunch breaks - 2 mins away from my work!) as well as on the weekend with the kids :) Built 3br house in Glenorchy, Tas in 2001 * * * Built 5br courtyard house in Lenah Valley, Tas in 2011 - Homeone thread / Blog 9 24751 In Victoria you cannot put a caveat on arising from a domestic building contract. 65 112181 Thanks mate.
