Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 May 26, 2011 12:00 pm We've fully renovated and extended our 1927 cal bung. I'm planning on having the more traditional style door handles for the first 3 rooms and hallway French doors. Something like this: http://www.recollections.com.au/detail_description/910/Hardware/Door%20Handles/2/1083%20Kensington%20Knob%20Lock%20SB%20AC/3019621083 Though we are continuing a "classic" look throughout the rest of the house with the skirts and cornices, the extension will include all new bathroom, laundry and modern kitchen. Plus a set of French doors and bifolds, and 2 hallway cupboards. Was thinking of doing something more like this in that section... http://www.recollections.com.au/detail_description/923/Hardware/Door%20Handles/2/0912%20Victorian%20Lever%20Latch%20SC/3019628059 Will it look funny having two different types... should I aim for one? Suggestions? Re: How important is matching ALL door hardware? 3May 26, 2011 4:25 pm Yes - a very good point - I'm asking myself the same question! I'm just full of indecision at the moment!! Re: How important is matching ALL door hardware? 4May 27, 2011 10:18 pm We couldn't find entrance door hardware that matched our internal door hardware, the differences are subtle but noticeable. It's worked our well and we like the fact that the front door stands out from the rest of the house. The two types of door hardware you're considering are very different and I think the house design will affect whether or not they work together. If the different types of door hardware delineate different areas of the house in a positive light it will be ok. If it looks like you ran out of one type and had to finish the rest of the house in the other then I would try to find a product that can be used throughout the house. Re: How important is matching ALL door hardware? 5May 28, 2011 10:04 pm I think it will look like an extension when there are 2 different types - both are lovely handles - I would try my hardest to pick your favourite one and stick with that! Good Luck!
