Fingers crossed something looks positive for you soon. Thanks kyton. I agree - better to go through minimal pain now rather than during the build. I feel really sad for some of the peoples' stories I have heard. Disappointing thing is the WMH do a lot of Customs, so immediately the experience for us was a good one in the paper work. But no. We are not going to sign. We might wait 6 months anyway (who knows, we might even still be in Council!!! gasp! ). But in the meantime will start talking to others, including gogo's builder. Maybe I should go back and talk to Masterton again.... argh!!! Can't believe our bad luck. Oh T - I remember when we were first looking in 2009 - there were rumours ... They dont seem to be too stable, have you checked product review - there is a recent posting that is not very complimentary at all... I suppose that is the case with most builders, there are always the pros and cons but this does sound risky. Good Luck , you so deserve to have some GOOD NEWS. But here we go... Well, we have been pretty horrified reading about Westminster recently. While we will still talk to them we don't dare sign up in the next 6 months. Meanwhile this is who we have been talking to (thanks to gogo!): - Zen Homes: waiting for tender - Ocean construction: waiting for tender (off shoot from Rawson, who we had been looking at 2 years ago and we really liked, but they don't do Customs anymore) - Elderton: don't build in our area - Alkira: DH will call this week - Rightbuild: DH will call this week Phew! I really didn't want to go through so much tender process, but I think we have to now. I just wish Masterton had been easier to talk to!! Oh - and if any of you remember the nightmare builder guy in front? Well, he drove past today, house now done, and some renters moving in over the weekend! Good thing for us is that it means he won't be selling in the next 6 months (we want to get our Council approval before he sells, so the new owners can't put in any fresh objections...). And so it continues..... Re: SunshineT's Build: getting off a sinking ship...:( 336Jun 01, 2011 6:27 pm Glad I can help Sunshine, I'm sure there are plenty of other builders who would love to build your home, it's just a matter of finding them. I think most of the builders at Bella Vista Homeworld will do customs, although they can be expensive Maybe Roselea Homes, they build a lot of custom homes and seem to be reasonably priced Re: SunshineT's Build: getting off a sinking ship...:( 337Jun 02, 2011 7:55 am gogo65 ::lol:: Glad I can help Sunshine, I'm sure there are plenty of other builders who would love to build your home, it's just a matter of finding them. Did you look at them when you were going through the process? I didn't see them mentioned in the other thread discussions.
