Re: Can you polish a screeded slab? 6May 26, 2011 8:56 am Lex Oh, and can polished concrete be used externally? Is it too slippery? Is there a coating that reduces the 'slipperiness'? Honed for outside Polished for inside Did I get it right Aiah/Onc? Re: Can you polish a screeded slab? 7May 26, 2011 10:19 am uhuh Where you are coming from is where you are going to... I read that a certain type of sealer can decrease the slip factor ... but looks like we probably won't need to know the answer as we're probably not doing this ... at least we had some discussion. Re: Can you polish a screeded slab? 10May 27, 2011 10:11 am I'm guessing your aim is to have the top of the slab level with something else? Other wise why would you want to have screed and no tiles? As mentioned by onc, just polish/hone the slab. If you are concerned about the level, have it raised and put it a channel grate type drain adjacent to any brick walls. That way with the correct slant any water that does get near the wall will run into the drain and be kept away from your foundations and out of the wall cavities You should be able to get a nice polished stainless type that will look nice. Edit: I assume this type of drain can be used as I have seen similar before, but someone more suitably qualified may want to clarify Re: Can you polish a screeded slab? 11May 27, 2011 7:53 pm Nah, it's just me thinking that I'd change my mind after all heights are determined and all is done and that if I decide not to tile, that I could have a slightly polished slab, but if we leave the real slab too low, then we'd have to screed as if we're adding tiles ....
