Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 22, 2011 4:15 pm Hi all,
We've been watching these forums for a while now and thought it might be time to go ahead and introduce ourselves. We're building in Western Sydney, and have finally been given Council Approval. The plan is to build the 'Cornerstone' by A*castle - our plans are pretty much per the display home we fell in love with, and we're just itching to start the build process. Here's a rough idea of our timeline so far: Initial deposit paid on December 23. (Merry Christmas!) File lost & almost forgotten about by builder: January 2011. Colour appointment & plan consultation: March 1. Plans tweaked & finally sent to Blacktown City Council on April 8. Plans were 'approved, not released' as of May 10. Plans were 'approved' & sent to builder as of May 11. We're not in the waiting game (again) - we've paid our bond to council. Being newbies to this whole building process, we're trying to keep on top of everything. Next up, I believe comes the Construction Certificate - as well as us receiving our final contract in the mail, paying the remaining amount & sorting out our home loan... we're just keeping fingers crossed to have a START in the next six weeks. We've started blogging about the process & hope to stop by and update as things happen. It'd be nice to meet some more local builders around the Kellyville/Glenwood/Parklea area and hear some of your build stories. Re: New Builders - Sydney - 'The Cornerstone' 2May 22, 2011 6:04 pm Hi Cornerstones, Congratulations on your approval Very exciting. We are building in kellyville, still waiting for land to register but hopefully soon, so will follow your build with excitement. Do you have plans?? have you done our colour selections? We all love pans and colours here Re: New Builders - Sydney - 'The Cornerstone' 3May 23, 2011 4:25 pm How exciting! We've done our plans and our colours - we're keeping most things the same. You can see the plans and overall look of the home here: http://www.allcastlehomes.com.au/pdf/al ... rstone.pdf Re: New Builders - Sydney - 'The Cornerstone' 4May 28, 2011 2:17 pm Well, I've blogged a few times this week - bit disappointed that our neighbours (who have recently moved into their new home) & their builders have used our vacant block as a dumping ground (and parking lot!) We know it happens, but it's still frustrating ... sigh. We're currently waiting for our final fund approval to come from the bank, so we can then go ahead for our final contract signing - I'm crossing fingers this will be done within the next week, because we just want things started already! (Also, we're getting married two weeks from today, so want everything done and dusted on our part before we're off for the honeymoon.) Happy weekend everyone. Re: New Builders - Sydney - 'The Cornerstone' 5May 28, 2011 5:04 pm Wow a busy few weeks ahead. Congraulations on your upcoming wedding Wishing you a wonderful day. I hpoe the bank finalises everything quickly for you We to are trying to get everything finalised in the next two weeks so our plans can go into council before we go away. Where are you going on your honeymoon?? We leave for Africaand Europe in two weeks Re: New Builders - Sydney - 'The Cornerstone' 6May 28, 2011 6:05 pm Thanks, gogo! We're off to Vanuatu for a week - we've recently moved back from Europe, so wanted to stick to somewhere a bit closer this time! Africa AND Europe? Sounds like a wonderful trip!! Crossing fingers for speedy approvals for both of us! Re: New Builders - Sydney - 'The Cornerstone' 7Aug 24, 2011 8:55 pm Well, it's been a few months but we're currently at framing stage - just started last Friday. We visited yesterday and the bottom floor has been mostly constructed - we won't visit again until this Friday to see if they've got the second story on. Check our blog for lots of pics of each stage. Hoping things speed on ahead!!!
