Personally I find it a bit bland. I wish I had gone with my gut and got the "Cracked Pepper" C'stone.
But we didn't have choice of granite or we probably would have gone that. I feel it has more character. We have seen a blackwood kitchen with the raw silk c'stone and it was way too yellow. Hope it helps - by the way I can't see the pics?? Re: need help deciding benchtop colour! 9Jun 17, 2008 7:52 pm OK having a blond moment - worked the pics out Re: need help deciding benchtop colour! 10Jun 17, 2008 7:56 pm Check out this website... go to the ideas icon and look at that bench.... makes me sad as it was what my kitchen was supposed to look like....... that another story.
http://www.tudordoors.com.au/ thanks everyone! 11Jun 17, 2008 8:26 pm thankyou to all of you who took the time to help me out and to welcome me !.
I didnt know that you could see the actual stone before the job starts. I live in Adelaide and I have had a quote for $5000 from Q kitchens - I rang them to question why the price was so high ( granite is 25mm thick ) and the sales guy instantly dropped the price to $4500 hmmm. I then went to granite transformations ( granite overlay ) which is a good concept as far as placing it on top of my benchtop, their price was $3950. I also went to some ******* place that is advertised weekly in the Sunday mail and she quoted $2800! but I think I might give them a miss as I didnt get a good feeling . Lastly I went to Adelaide marble ( very helpful and full of knowledge about their products) still waiting on the quote, but I have a feeling that it will come back pricey. I think I will go with my gut instinct and go for black granite, Ill keep you all posted on the price and outcome. thanks Rachael Re: need help deciding benchtop colour! 12Jun 17, 2008 9:29 pm Hi Rachael,
Check out The Marble House- showroom is at Kent Town. They installed our Quantum Quartz benches today & a black granite benchtop for another couple down this way today. I think they specialise in granite - ask for Luigi. Jo reply to jo 13Jun 18, 2008 2:42 pm thanks Jo,
I havent been to Marble House, Ill go there on the weekend and see what they offer. Adelaide Marble got back to me on a price of $4500 for 30mm granite. So far their product has been the best Ive seen. keep u posted! Rachael Re: need help deciding benchtop colour! 14Jun 18, 2008 3:18 pm Good luck Rachael.
I also got prices from Adelaide Marble & they seem good. Marble House's workmanship was excellent. Very happy with them. I'll check with the other couple as well if you like to see if they feel the same about their granite. Jo Re: need help deciding benchtop colour! 17Jun 18, 2008 9:32 pm Rachael I actually went for a light kitchen with off-white cupboards & quantum quartz benchtop in pebble cove (light also).
I have previously had a kithcen with timber look laminate cupboards and black marble look laminate which looked great. IMO I think a darker top would look better with your timber cupboards - have you found any pictures of timber cupboards with a black top? Jo Re: need help deciding benchtop colour! 20Jun 24, 2008 3:15 pm what colour benchtop did you go with?
We have a blackwood kitchen in our current house. The benchtops are a light laminate and look terrible, but we have an island bench with an earthy, reddish-brown grantie top and its looks fantastic with the blackwood. If we werent selling I'd have had the benchtops re-done. I think any darkish colour would look good. Thank you @.
