Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 May 16, 2011 6:25 pm Hi there.. We have recieved two quotes for heating and cooling and just wondering if anyone has any advice which to go for! QUOTE 1 COOLING: Supply and install BREEZAIR EXH210 Evaporative Cooler (Quietest Evap on the market) to 9 Outlets 5 YEAR Warranty on unit TOTAL: $5100.00 Inc G.S.T. OR Supply and install BRAEMAR LCB550 Evaporative Cooler to 9 Outlets 5 YEAR Warranty on unit TOTAL: $4500.00 Inc G.S.T. HEATING: Supply and install BRAEMAR Ducted Heater 4.7STAR rating to 11 outlets with SPECTROLINK digital programmable controller 28KW Unit 5 YEAR Warranty on unit TOTAL: $3700.00 Inc G.S.T. QUOTE 2 Gas Ducted (heating): I propose to supply and install a Braemar TH430 (30kw – 4 star energy rating) gas ducted heating system. Thirteen (13) round ceiling Downjets. Return air with removable filter will be located in the hallway ceiling opposite the bathroom and the system would be controlled by the fully programmable Networker thermostat. The total price for the above heating system would be $3050.00. Cooling: I propose to supply and install a Brivis Profiler Model P64 Evaporative cooling system to the colour of your choice. A Weatherguard dropper would penetrate the roof and insulated flexible duct would run to the following suitably sized Diffusers (multi-directional ceiling outlets) Bed 3 One (1) 300 x 300 Diffuser - 12" Bed 2 One (1) 300 x 300 Diffuser - 12" Bed 1 One (1) 350 x 350 Diffuser - 14" Bed 4 One (1) 300 x 300 Diffuser - 12" Theatre One (1) 400 x 400 Diffuser - 16" Kitchen/Meals/Family Two (2) 400 x 400 Diffuser - 16" Lounge One (1) 400 x 400 Diffuser - 16" TOTAL: 8 Outlets The total price for the above cooling system would be $4,200.00 with payment due as per our terms. The heating units are the same I think although the cheaper one (Quote 2) is providing 13 ducts, which includes the bathrooms. What I am really wondering about is the cooling. I have heard the Breezair is a lot better than the others. Is this true? Or should I just go the cheaper one. The second guy doesn't deal with Breezair coolers. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Re: Heating and cooling advice 3May 19, 2011 5:45 am A few years ago we had bottled gas heating which we replaced with a reverse cycle inverter. Not only did we keep the house warmer but we saved over $500 a year. I think bottled gas is about 2.5 x the price of mains gas which indicates that the inverter unit should still be a couple of hundred a year cheaper. 150m2 house The Harder You Try - the Luckier You Get ! Re: Heating and cooling advice 4May 19, 2011 8:36 am I recommend you go with the Breezair unit. It uses a centrifugal fan which is not only quieter but also more efficient than standard fans. I have 2x Breezair units and can hardly hear them when they are on. Re: Heating and cooling advice 6May 27, 2011 12:14 am Centifugal "pumps" air (Breezeair) - "axial" blows air (Braemar and others) - both are made by the same company and often dealers have access to one OR the other - I with withhold judgement but my opinion is centrifugal works better for larger house and duct runs. I cannot say in a house I could give a sh!t if I am comfortable if they both work) Have lived with old school evaps for years (no longer) but both should do the job regardless - initial budget decision I would say Braemar is made by the same company as both evaps - decent units. both of them. I personally wouldn't mix a Brivis cooler with a Braemar - 2 separate controls! I like how quote #2 gives you the diameter and sizes of the evap duct BUT not the ducted gas- not his job to design or doesn't know...? They BOTH should provide this info bef ore you decide WITH a design My thoughts You get what you pay for! Versaloc is a mortarless besser block system that still needs a properly engineered footing.
