Hi Maggie. I've checked that. The windows just get bolted to the edges of the opening and the gap filled with the insulating foam and covered with render/plaster. I'd expect any reasonably skilled tradie to be able to do that. I'll be getting all instructions, etc, from the supplier if and when I buy the windows. Any update on the expected import duty ? I can't believe that it'd be 5% of the "equivalent local" cost. That simply wouldn't be practical for most goods. For cars sure, you've got an *identical* product, but the more specilaised products get the more illogical and subjective the "equivalent" cost gets. Do the hard jobs first. Will keep you posted.

Suprize! Surprize!!!! It's only 1/3 of what the Aussie outfits want. If the shipping, customs', etc costs are reasonable (I don't know yet) it might be possible to get my dream uPVC tilt and turn windows, which I can't afford at Aussie prices. So now I wonder - is it possible to import made to order uPVC windows and install them without raising the bureaucratic fuss?? I'm worried about BCA, official red tape, etc. The windows meet the European (ISO) standards, but is this good enough for OZ ?? Any comments, anyone ?? Greetings from Europe if there any person who wanna make some combination about PvC windows produced under EU ISO norms we can make good deal for cheep price for exporting to Australia Re: Import uPVC windows from Europe direct ?? 20Nov 05, 2021 11:41 am European uPVC windows won't comply with Australian standards (as they were never tested to them) and therefore are most likely to be rejected by certifier if you are talking about a new build. Depends... Brick veneer required the window to be attached to the house frame, this is usually achieved by screwing through the timber reveal into the frame.
