Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 1881May 19, 2011 5:44 pm I don't know if it will lower the value of our properties considering there is already a recycling and mining operation 500m north of the proposed location. However I dont think it should be built there either. Sure they say noise will be abated by the 4m earth wall and all crushing operations are only during business hours but SURELY in this day and age, is there a need for more HEAVY industry in residential areas?? To me it is not NIMBYism but wouldn't a operation of this sort be better suited out near the western sydney parklands, near the tip at eastern creek?? Not next to a golf course, river, and residential area. Now also remember this has not gone to council yet, it is a proposal to guage opinion so it has not yet greased the palms of councillors(geez I am so cynical about governments these days) I will try and make it out. Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 1884May 19, 2011 8:29 pm this will be a hard fight - this plant was already planned and pretty well sewn up before the first block of land was even developed and sold at GF. So nice of them all to forget to mention it...council, sales office, Investa, my conveyancer and why didn't I find all this stuff before!!!! 2005 Amendment to Liverpool Local Environmental Plan http://www.legislation.nsw.gov.au/sessionalview/sessional/epi/2005-586.pdf 2006 Director Generals requirements Proposed Recycling Facility https://majorprojects.affinitylive.com/public/76c7d41e0740e399c7e274034a668698/Director-General's%20Requirements.pdf 2006 Preliminary Environmental assessment https://majorprojects.affinitylive.com/public/e05ef897e01bfdf154505f84ceca0f7f/Preliminary%20Environmental%20Assessment.pdf Built a Clarendon 'Balmain' 2008 Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 1887May 19, 2011 9:12 pm Just about to. Made a few amendments. Just added J.Stubbs details if people require more info. I spoke to Paul (joannapaulp) and we'll take care of GF. I'll do some and he'll do some as he already lives there. If you (MnM) could take care of surrounding Moorebank that would be great. Maybe Newbridge Rd. near Brickmakers, along Nuwarra etc. Even shop billboards, or shop windows if they allow you. Possibly even some on the Milperra side. I am emailing the flyer to yourself, Sloo888, kballa and ojaaynme. I will give you guys Moorebank and Milperra flyers. Can you sort out between you who does where so that we don't double up and annoy residents. For all your joinery needs, we custom build kitchens, office, wardrobes, garage, laundry fit outs plus TV units, pantry, linen and everything in between. PM me for more info or details. Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 1888May 19, 2011 9:17 pm Hi everyone. I am MnM's husband and thought I would join the forum, following the latest developments with the recycling plant. Thanks Maxie for putting up that information from 2005/2006. I wonder if this is really good news? Maybe Moorebank Recyclers Pty Ltd tried to push this 5 years ago and failed. We will try and find out whether this is the case. Hopefully, we will be able to fight this. We need everyone to RSVP for the meeting and bring lots of people. Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 1889May 19, 2011 9:22 pm Agreed. Please make sure you all RSVP. It's all good to say you are going but Judith Stubbs will think numbers are low if nobody responds. Just to let you know I will be calling the Leader and Champion local papers tomorrow. Keep you posted. For all your joinery needs, we custom build kitchens, office, wardrobes, garage, laundry fit outs plus TV units, pantry, linen and everything in between. PM me for more info or details. Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 1895May 19, 2011 10:13 pm Where should I cover? I don't think I can manage to cover a big area because of my bad back. I was the one always had to sit down during April's meet up. Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 1896May 20, 2011 8:28 am Hi all, sorry I've been MIA - been quite busy lately and also 6mths pregnant and struggling lol My husband and I are IRATE about this proposal (Paul we did finally end up getting the yellow envelope) and will both be there on 31 may. Will have to email them today to book. If this goes ahead we will NOT be happy. So strange that they are putting in a beautiful marina but trying to tarnish the area with an unsightly and noisy and dirty recycling plant. We won't let this happen. So count me in on any activism I'm more than willing to wave banners, drop leaflets, contact papers etc. I'm also wondering if it's worthwhile engaging out own lawyers to fight this - perhaps once they have lodged DA to council.... Truly guys we love here now and it's bad enough being woken by tricks and dust daily and feeling like you are living in a construction zone... But at least we know it's temporary while they build homes. If wr have something permanent on our doorstep then it will be awful!!! As for the person at the sales office - she is a sales person and is NOT going to tell us the truth so I would ask u PLEASE not to take anything they say as gospel. They aren't going to tell u about this plant because they know people won't buy. It's up to us residents and future residents to STOP IT IN IT'S TRACKS! Good work Dave on the banner - pop in for a cuppa when u and Paul do the drop offs lol Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 1897May 20, 2011 3:03 pm Hi everyone, i have been following the forum for while now, i am currently selling my house, downsizing as my husband and i are now empty nesters, and our house of 33 years is way too big for the two of us. I am wanting to buy a block of land at GF in the brushwood release very soon, and build us both a brand new house. Am a bit concerned about the latest news about the recyling plant that may be built. do you think there is much of a chance it will go ahead, as i really have my heart set on living at GF. i usually drive there once a week to see how things are progressing, and dream that i will actually be living there soon...DONT WANT TO GET MY HOPES DASHED. Will it really effect GF if it goes ahead, will the area be undesireable to live at. i surely hope not....So what advice would everyone give a future resident of GF, do i buy or not ? I really dont have a desire to live anywhere else other than GF.....WHAT SHOULD I DO ????? Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 1898May 20, 2011 3:24 pm Hi dreamgirl It is this uncertainty that got new members to this forum thread. We are all in the same boat especially those who have already committed (either putting in deposits; in the midst of building or have already built houses) at GF. Unfortunately GF is sandwiched in between the proposed recycling plant and the Moorebank Intermodal project areas. So no one is sure how these projects once approved will impact us in terms of traffic, pollution, noise level, etc and not forgetting property prices.... Only time will tell. Whatever the outcome is, it is better to stop these projects before we have to bear with the unknown ..... Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 1899May 20, 2011 5:24 pm Hi All I called JS today and expressed my "un happieness" about this proposal, I will also be there on the 31st and have booked in, and will fight this all the way with you guys. As we are 50% built there is no going back now, so I will fight it all the way to the end, the same as I did at wattle grove when the airport was proposed, I wrote 20 letters to the PM !. They said not many people had booked for the 31st, so please do a.s.a.p so they know they have a fight coming !! I did ask while on the phone if the plant was being build by the exisitng recycler owner and was told NO, it is owned by someone different !. I was advised independantly today that we need to push this issue with the council early so they dont even get a gernsy when the proposal is sent to council. I am very upset about this and cant believe a company would even propose this type of development next to peoples homes that have spent upmost of 3/4 million dollars to finally find a nice quiet place to live. On another happier note , beacon lighting at Casula are very low on fans, so if you need them for your house getting built I would get an order in now, the ones we wanted were a 2 month wait as we wanted ECO fans with compact fluoros !, so we took the larger blade stainless look fans which took 2 weeks, got them last night so alls good for the sparky to install when needed now. Gyprock going in next week Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 1900May 20, 2011 6:00 pm Perhaps we need to get a petition running together with mail drop "walk the talk" to the residents explaining to them. We can then present the petition at the meeting and eventually when lobbying the council. I think we need a stronger strategy than just mail drop . We need solidaration and support from as many as possible. Hi, we live in an area where the black soil is prone to a lot of movement.
