My concern is that it becomes like the previous thread. The problem with previous thread was that there was no summary, and advice was all over the place so you ended up with people asking the same questions etc It doesnt matter if this thread gets long, as long as the first page has the summary and an up to date guide Re: Fu Manchu's Guide to Laying Turf & More 54May 05, 2011 1:02 am What would be better is if we had a lawn sub forum in here Re: Fu Manchu's Guide to Laying Turf & More 56May 05, 2011 7:26 am Fu Manchu Of course you can You guys are all so scared of weeds. Don't be. OK, thanks very much Fu. I was also curious as to what I should do just before I lay the turf, if it's going to be approx 2 months between when I do the soil conditioning and when I put the turf down. I'm guessing I will need to get rid of any stray weeds a week or two beforehand, but will I need to rotary hoe the soil and recompact again the day before the turf arrives? Re: Fu Manchu's Guide to Laying Turf & More 57May 06, 2011 11:27 am Na, just turn it over. You could go to all the effort of spraying, etc and feeling good about it, lay the turf and guess what, you may very well see weeds pop up here and there anyway All that for what? They will show up if the opportunity is there regardless. Just dig it through.. A few months between prep and laying? Hmm you could, of course you could but the real benefits of what is being done is wasted to a greater extent. Maybe do the amendments now, sand, spongolite, perlite, zeolite etc and then the weekend before you lay the turf do the compost. Smash the turf down and have a beer Re: Fu Manchu's Guide to Laying Turf & More 58May 14, 2011 2:35 pm Thanks! Now just to get it all done. Is it necessary to oil underneath the boards before laying? 0 2554 Hey There. No problems re jumping in. My original question was "should I have waterproofed" the concrete slab before putting batons down. We have been told we should… 7 4783 They using concrete or timber sleepers?
