Apparently they are due to start roof frame next week! One small hickup.....the cavity sliders dont fit in under the lintel for our home theatre entrance. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Options are swing doors, no thanks - not in this position. Plain opening, OK but last preference for us. We want to be able to close it up for noise, heating / cooling. Resize lintel in steel instead of timber, hopefully reducing the height of it and allowing the fit of the cavity slider housing.....all of course at a cost!! But I am OK with it, Kersbrook Cons are really upfront about it, giving us all the options and saying that the decision (with engineering specs and council approval for this lintel) wont hold anything up.....so all in all not to bad a situation So, Moving along VERY nicely! Re: Our custom build in the Barossa - Framing has begun!!!! 245May 04, 2011 9:46 am Bec, I highly recommend having doors on the home theatre room. We notice the sound travels quite abit (especially since we havea sub woofa) so we regularly close the sliding doors to the room. Depending on the cost, it may be worth investigating the option. You wont regret it!! ------------------------------------------------------ Handover: 14 December 2010 Current: Putting in plants! You wont regret it!! Oops now you tell me - we won't have any doors on our HT Still it's only the two of us and if one of us wants to watch something else we've got plenty of other options with doors. I did see some lovely frosted doors in Miss's thread I think. If DH is in the HT room and I am in the family room, I just shut the hallway doors. Alternatively, if I am in the bedroom, I shut that door! ------------------------------------------------------ Handover: 14 December 2010 Current: Putting in plants! We think it's a price we have to pay - bummer........ Suitably please with how the builder has dealt with this issue though, so that's great. Cheers for your feedback Robyn! Why won't the sliding doors fit under the lintel? Was the cavity doors in the original plan and if so, shouldn't the lintel have been narrower or raised slightly to fit the doors? Or do you have the tall doors? https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43937&start=0 Bought a block in Golden Grove - Jan 2011 Finally finished our design, Mar 2012, *yay* Signed with ADH council consent June 12 Re: Our custom build in the Barossa - Framing has begun!!!! 251May 05, 2011 1:49 pm I would have thought that the engineers would have allowed for that when doing the final plans as the door would have been on the floor plan? It sound like an error has been made & I'd be making the builder wear that cost! Yes, it's someone's mistake and a bummer for us. But we do understand that it is not our builders error and therefore he really shouldn't have the responsibility to foot this bill.....would have to be a three way error between the other three really..... I just dont have the time to chase three companies and put weeks on our build....I'll save that in rent! We are OK with the outcome. Thanks though....
