I have decided on back to base monitoring with a company, Securetrac. They are giving 1st month free monitoring and then $33/month after that on a 2 year contract. Before finalising with them, just wanted to know are there any tricky bits about a security system installation that I should get clarified??? Before finalising with them, just wanted to know are there any tricky bits about a security system installation that I should get clarified??? $33 a month is a little steep, majority of control rooms charge $1 a day, I know its only a few dollars extra but at the end of the day it all adds up. Re: Which Home Alarm system? 17May 05, 2011 5:20 pm TUBBYM Databoom deeps So I've been getting some quotes for home security systems, and after compiling a table, I've got to make a decision. I do have two more quotes to come, but I expect it to be about the same. Our initial budget was $1000, but we can't seem to squeeze some keyfobs into that price unfortunately. We are willing to stretch it a bit though so no big problem there. Which of these systems are the best, and are the prices reasonable? Deeps You might wish to get more quotes as you have not given the correct information to us all, if you are going to monitor the system with your mobile you will need a system that can handle it, that means a ness system, they are designed for monitoring with a mobile, if you want the hills system then you will require "operator software" (around $250), also the quote I gave you included an NX16 panel (you are not comparing horses with horses) Uh What?? Ness systems arent the only systems that you can monitor via a mobile, hills systems can be monitored via phone without spending any money on some so called operator software. Plug your phone line in, program it up to call a mobile it is pretty simple. The majority of alarm systems on the market can be programmed up to ring a mobile. We have installed hundreds of hills alarms to do this. Just curious for a house why would you quote to install a NX16? Isnt that a little overkill, I'm sure an 8 will do just fine. Sure a hills system can dial up a mobile, heck a dumb modem can but...... If you really have installed hundreds of hills systems then you would also know that the hills system cannot be "kissed off" with a smart phone, and if you have in fact sold systems to people and programmed them to shut down dialling after two attempts (the only way to stop them dialling due to smart phones not being able to kiss them off), your customers are probably all wondering why the "service light" will not go off. Why did I install an NX 16 well deeps indicated that he may want to expand in the future and as a professional I would naturally allow for expansion, from my experience a lot of so called security professionals supply and install systems exactly to the customers specifications, that way they keep it cheap and get the job, however I take my profession seriously enough to advise people to allow for the future expansion, even if it costs me the job and as licensed consultants we are legally bound to give the client good advice, sadly there many in the industry that aren't trained correctly or just don't care once they have installed a system. Telecommunications systems, computer Networks and Security systems. Hold down the * key for about 3 seconds once the tone breaks. I have never come across a smartphone that cant do it. I understand future expansion and all but a 16 is massive overkill, for a normal house a 8 for be fine if the house is larger then use a 12. Re: Which Home Alarm system? 19Jun 16, 2011 12:44 pm who told me? Direct alarm supplies try to get them to confirm what you are saying, they will not support this.
