We are looking at getting close to that price with a 35w replacement (500ish lumens) which is still a good chunk brighter than most of the products claiming 500lm. I'm working on the theory that the "First Generation" of Plasma TVs were over $20,000, the "Second Generation" (where we bought ours) were around the $5,000 mark, and now they're around $1,500 - ish (or less) ............. Given that LED's have now hit their straps, the equivalent if you like of the "First Generation", it cannot be too long before 2nd and 3rd generations are with us, hopefully at similar price reductions. China's own producers are also ramping up; expect LED prices to plummet over the next five years. |
