Not once was it clarified that the 12 months extended maintenance only included structural issues. Hi Lunchtime, We have been told that the extended 12 month warranty is for structural issues, but that it's in addition to the standard 7 years, meaning that you actually get 8 years in total. Re: Porter Davis homes 1370Mar 13, 2011 4:55 pm Hi Lunchtime, I am so happy to hear that you are taking further action, it seems that PD have a practice of leaving information out I would be more than happy to send the same letter to ACCC to help boost the need for them to investigate the "trickiness" of their company....such as to be told that there are independant inspections completed at each stage - what they dont tell you is you dont get a copy of it! My question is who ensures that the defects are fixed?? Some intereting comment made about the building process through PD. We are looking to build PD's Davenport 29 and as i'm new to the building scene does anyone have any useful tips? things to consider/look out for? What to do and not to do? We're also looking into 'Ducted Air Con'. Does anyone have any suggestions for suppliers etc...?? Re: Porter Davis homes 1372Mar 13, 2011 6:31 pm fingers crossed Hi Lunchtime, I am so happy to hear that you are taking further action, it seems that PD have a practice of leaving information out I would be more than happy to send the same letter to ACCC to help boost the need for them to investigate the "trickiness" of their company....such as to be told that there are independent inspections completed at each stage - what they dont tell you is you dont get a copy of it! My question is who ensures that the defects are fixed?? Power to you Lunchtime Yes, I asked for a copy of their inspections but was told I couldn't have it because I wouldn't understand it. When I met my SS he pointed out drawings on the wall indicating things that needed to be fixed, I did notice they were fixed but how many things are left due to discretion? They all have targets to meet and somethings are going to get left .. I will be getting a final inspection done just for my piece of mind, I really don't like the way my bricks are looking, and my SS said the brickie was "the best". I'm not so sure. I have just written to the ACCC with regard to some of their advertising that I believe was misleading. And should we not get satisfactory answers on the other items I will be running to the BACV. I intend to show them what a nightmare client is all about Oh my, haven’t you been sucked in. And to think you even bought your SS a bottle of wine- that is just too much! Weren’t you the one who was pontificating to me that my attitude was "not right" on the following thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=44716? Now look at you threatening to be a nightmare client and using censored language! You should take a chill pill and relax before you make an even bigger fool of yourself writing letters and what not. I’m sure there is a reasonable explanation why the outstanding items were not rectified and you owe PD a right of response before you throw a tanty. Your poor SS most likely arranged for the defects to be rectified and was let down by his trades- we all know how unreliable they can be. And given the SS has a zillion homes to manage it is perfectly reasonable that he may not have had time to personally inspect the rectification works before handover. In any case, your rectification concerns are so minor compared to some of the horror stories on this forum that I am surprised you would even waste your time typing them up when you could have addressed half of them yourself in the same time. Clients are entitled to all material documents relating to their build, including independent surveyor’s reports. It is amazing how quickly my builder furnished me with all manner of requested documents when I refused to make a progress payment. Re: Porter Davis homes 1377Mar 13, 2011 8:34 pm independent surveyor’s reports are one thing but independant inspectors reports are another - isnt that right? My censored language started with a P and I didnt expect that it would be classed as a sensitive word. That one made me laugh. I can see why you thought it might have started with a different letter of the alphabet. Im just sick of being * too, it wasnt about the tradies. When I left the house we were told that SS needed to run down to bunnings and pick up x,y,z and that everything was set and was going to happen. It seems that he walked out at the sametime as us and that was it. I do agree that there are others in a far worse position on this BB, that doesnt mean I shouldnt accept defects on my build. What has really upset me is the broken promises. Tell me one thing and then as soon as my back is turned, do another The nightmare client comment is a take on what our SS has already said about us. The thread that you draw attention too is about wanting to cash in on builders errors. I just want my house built to the proper standard as promised by PD and my SS. Hi Jezz, Best thing to remember is any volume builders out there are the same, some are slightly better than others but most of them have too many projects than they can handle. You have to be on top of everything, make sure you know what they are doing & double check everything against your contract & drawings. Make sure you use independent inspector for peace of mind & don't let them push you. Read the contract & make sure you understand every single clause. Do not assume anything, ask for clarification if you are in doubt. Don't worry about the negative comments in the forums, most people who post in the forums have bad experiences, those who don't have bad experiences don't normally post in the forums. We didn't get any ducted air con for ours, we got evaporative cooling, so can't help you there. __________________________________________ Built Camberwell 29 with PD - Hand Over was on 22/12/10 http://ssazcamberwell29.blogspot.com/ Re: Porter Davis homes 1380Mar 14, 2011 2:32 pm inverell Victoria_g06 Yes, I asked for a copy of their inspections but was told I couldn't have it because I wouldn't understand it. Hi Inverell, Can I ask who did you build with and what kind of documents did they release to you. I was wondering if PD will release all the documents for our appliances with the warranty cards etc..
