Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Mar 10, 2011 9:57 am Please help! One of our toilets froze up last night. It won't flush. What is a safe way to thaw it out? Can I put warm water in the toilet bowl? I think that hot water might crack the bowl. Actually we got them unfrozen once (and we checked the water meter. It didn't look like we had a leak - but we're really concerned now.) We had below 0 again last night! Frozen again!! We're having very unusual weather here in Arkansas! Our homes probably just aren't made for this. We are in our 70's and we can't crawl under the house. Thanking you in advance! Re: Frozen Toilet Pipes 2Mar 10, 2011 11:27 am Gesmarty - that doesn't sound good. Unfortunately this forum is located in Australia and we have a tiny tiny percentage of our land that would freeze! You might be better off calling a plumber. Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Frozen Toilet Pipes 3Mar 10, 2011 1:20 pm gesmarty Please help! One of our toilets froze up last night. Unlikely that warm water will break your bowl as it's when water freezes that it expands and causes pipes to rupture, it's when they thaw you discover the leaks. Best advice is to lag (insulate) your pipes so they don't freeze. (Experience gained in the UK).
