They are both sheltered from the weather. Thank you!!! Re: What's on the base of your front door frame? 17Mar 31, 2011 6:57 am Just one last question if you don't mind stormy Are your door frames/jambs timber or mdf? Our jambs will be mdf and I am just wondering if that will be an issue (mixing mdf and timber) Re: What's on the base of your front door frame? 18Mar 31, 2011 6:58 am And our garage isn't set down for some strange reason If this makes any difference. Our jambs will be mdf and I am just wondering if that will be an issue (mixing mdf and timber) Hi Blue, From looking at the timber, the door frames in the entrance door (metal base plate) and the garage door (timber base plate) are some sort of hardwood. The wood grain is visible, even after they have been painted. I can only assume all of the internal door frames are what look like pre-primed MDF (same as the skirts and archs) as they are completely smooth and 'wood-grain free'. I'm not sure if MDF is appropriate to use for a jamb/frame on an external door? Someone else might have the answer for you, but even my laundry external door frame is timber (metal base plate). Might be worth asking at your door supplier, or chippie?? I'm not sure what they would do with the garage not set down. So is it the same floor level as your house slab? In that case, you might not have a base plate at all, but perhaps just a weather seal strip attached to the door to prevent draughts. Not sure.... have you a pic? Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... Thats right, our garage is the same floor level as the rest of the house. The front door frame is meranti but the garage to house door is indoors, nor outdoors This is 100% true. You can not hang anything on steel frames. very frustrating 8 9267 Current door width is approx 2700, looking to have double doors fitted 820-820. What size does the frame need to be before door jamb? Thanks 0 3672 I have seen poly marble shower bases last in excess of 30 years 1 4624 |
