Hi Blue, no, I have a metal strip as the base plate of my door frame (which I hate and the builder wouldn't change...). On the other hand, the garage internal door (which is white on both sides) has a stained wooden base plate and hides all the dirt and scuff marks. I can't see any of the base plate for the door frame on my front doors from the inside. You would probably want it painted to match the rest of the frame (exterior colour), but keep in mind it will get constantly trodden on and liable to chip! White would probably be a big no-no as it would show up every speck of dirt! The stained wood works well. Not sure what other people have, though! EDIT: You can see the metal strip/base for the door frame in my first exterior pic, Blue. Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... I love my house!! But you will probably put a security on the front and that is what people will see from the streets. Frank @ Ecovista Building Standards; Getting It Right!
