Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Feb 25, 2011 2:48 pm Hi all, I'm hoping I can get some opinions and advice with my tile selections and their placement. I fell in love with a wall tile (pics below) and would really love to use it in both bathroom and ensuite as a feature. My thoughts at the moment for the ensuite are to run the tile up one whole wall of the shower recess with the remaining walls in the recess and above the vanity being in the white tile. In the bathroom I was thinking of maybe having the tile up the bath hob. Or same as ensuite (one wall in shower) with one row of tiling running up the bath hob also. Here is a pic of the wall tile with the white tile I would like to use. The white tile has subtle lines in it also when placed vertically, but if placed horizontally they aren't really noticable. The Pearl Grey sample is very close to the colour paint we will be using throughout the house. Any thoughts on these would also be appreciated Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Here is a link to my thread if you would like to see the floorplan for layout of the bathrooms....although they are pretty standard. We are thinking of changing the shower in the Ensuite to double size (still not sure). viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43780 TIA P Re: Need help with tile placement 2Feb 25, 2011 2:59 pm Forgot to mention we will be having venetians on the windows. I'm thinking this may play a part in which way the lines should run to be visually appealing. P Re: Need help with tile placement 3Feb 26, 2011 3:56 pm Bump.... Any thoughts or opinions, good or bad ?? Re: Need help with tile placement 5Feb 26, 2011 8:30 pm Firstly, gorgeous tiles Secondly, I personally like vertical, but they'd look fine either way Re: Need help with tile placement 6Feb 26, 2011 11:31 pm Thanks Pinchy and Just Erin 1 of each I'm leaning more toward horizontal if I have them over the bath hob in the bathroom, mainly because I think it will flow nicely with the venetians. It won't matter in the ensuite which way they are placed if we go the bigger shower because we won't have window coverings. Do you think the laminex samples go well? I originally wanted to go a darker cabinet, but had trouble finding a colour that worked. BTW I found your bathrooms inspiring Just Erin. I had picked a very similar colour combination for the bathroom originally, Fossil is an awesome colour. Once I saw the wall tile though, I just had to find a way to use it. You're kitchen is also stunning, I'm trying to get my kitchen colours together and am hoping to get a dark colour combination that works. Need help with tile placement 7Feb 27, 2011 7:42 am What shape are the tiles? If they are square then they would look fine either way (although I think they look nicer lines going vertical). But jf they are rectangular then I think they always look nicer with the short sides going horizontal and the long edges vertical. Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Need help with tile placement 8Feb 27, 2011 8:30 am Thanks PIAP Fossil is a gorgeous colour I agree Our bathrooms and kitchen are the same colours, just with a difference benchtop, and with the addition of Lustrous Elm in the kitchen too. I love your Laminex colours, they compliment the tiles perfectly Re: Need help with tile placement 9Feb 27, 2011 3:55 pm Peas In A Pod I have the same tiles in the lighter shade! I love them. We have the floor and one wall of the main bathroom and our ensuite in the feature tile (horizontal) and the other three walls are white. Good luck with your decision & I look forward to seeing some pics in the future! Re: Need help with tile placement 10Feb 27, 2011 9:07 pm Kyton - the tiles are square. There were some similar rectangle tiles, but not in this colour. It goes really well with the colours we are using through the house. Virginia8586 - I would love to use these on the floor, but they are a wall tile. I think I may have seen your bathroom in a search I did to try find inspiration...are your tiles rectangle? Would it be rude of me to ask if you could post a pic? Just Erin - I'm glad you think the Laminex colours go together, I've been staring at them for 2 days still trying to decide if they go . I want to use the same colour combination in the laundry to tie it all in, but I'm worried it will be too plain with the white tile above the counter and I'm not sure the feature tile above will look any good. I'm thinking of having the white tiles 2 rows high with a stripe up the middle with the feature tile?? I want the Laundry to have a little character as people will be walking through it to get to the toilet. Hi all, My first post, we are building a house and can’t decide the layout of the lounge room.
