I am also in Doreen and saw one a few weeks ago in the corner of my yard, in the loose clay. It was so big I didnt feel like I could even kill it, something like trying to kill a small cat with a shoe!!! I now try to stay away from that area and hope it is eating other things I dont like. It did go under the fence when someone else saw it -maybe over to your place Re: A massive thick black hairy spider - help! 37Feb 12, 2011 8:42 am free will It's not the big huntsmen you have to worry about - they are fairly harmless. It's the redbacks and funnelwebs that cause the problems. I was at the zoo with my 4 yo DD and looking at redbacks and she goes "there is one of those in my sandpit" Got home, and there it was....... For 5 seconds and then it was dead That's scary. I almost put my hand on one in the letter box of our temp accom while we were building. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ ...but thankfully, due to my hate of spiders, I ALWAYS look before I stick my hand in!!! We sprayed and sprayed it and a Woman passing on the street made a comment that she had ants too. We laughed and said that this was no ant! ...and thanks to this thread, I had a dream last night that I had a white tail crawling on my shoulder. I woke up with a huge jump!!! I like spiders, they're fascinating. I'm still worried about it's lifespan... 5-20 years. It could be around for a while! Re: A massive thick black hairy spider - help! 40Feb 12, 2011 11:05 am We've got redbacks all around the place we're living right now...we've killed three in the garage in the past couple of weeks. There was one in the letterbox this past week too. At least they're small and don't tend to roam...they just sit in their webs. Now white tails on the other hand...rrrrr... The warning is on the sticker on the door too. Second the aluminium powdercoat 6 18404 Thankyou for your advice.
