Re: Where is your rangehood duct routed to? 3Jan 16, 2011 12:45 pm I have a double storey, and my stove top and rangehood are situated on the outside wall, so therefore ducted outside on the brickwork. I'm not sure of your kitchen configuration and where you have your stovetop/rangehood, blueblueblue. Can you post a plan? I understand you have a double storey, has anyone suggested to you where it should go? Here's mine: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I know with my downstairs powder room, which is in the middle of the house, has it's fan ducted outside on the brickwork also, if that's any help! The ducting goes through the cavity between the floors. Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... I love my house!! Where do they go? Into the roof cavity? Re: Where is your rangehood duct routed to? 6Jan 17, 2011 10:39 am It depends. Rangehood is usually ducted to outside. If it's a toilet/powder room without windows it has to be ducted to outside as well. If it's just a extractor fan in the bathroom where you have window it might be only into the roof cavity. I know the exhaust fans (internal loo included) and rangehood in our house is all to the roof cavity, although we had the option to pay extra to have the rangehood vented externally. For the rangehood, the filter collects the oil droplets so it is really only air that gets sucked out. That's why it's important to regularly clean the filters. Second Time 'Round Re: Where is your rangehood duct routed to? 8Jan 17, 2011 8:58 pm My steel one has since been painted Paperbark to match all the other metal on the house, but I didn't have a photo! My internal ground floor windowless powderoom is ducted outside, the upstairs bathroom and toilet fans are all in the roof space. Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... I love my house!! I'm building a 2 storey house on the boundary, it means there is no room for vent on the side of the house, the only way is duct all the way to the roof cavity or outside. The builder wants me to pay extra for the ducts as they made provisions for only the recirculatiung type of rangewoods. I ended up buying my own appliances and now i'm in the dilemma of whether to pay the extra money for the duct or just to leave it in the floor space. any comments will be much appreciated. cheers Re: Where is your rangehood duct routed to? 11Jan 31, 2011 7:54 pm We're building a single story and the rangehood is ducted straight up through to the outside via a flue. Our kitchen is in the middle of the house so no other option but to go straight up. We've been charged an extra $426 by the builder for the flue kit and labour. Not too bad ... we were charged $390 a year ago to do the same thing when we put a new kitchen in. Eta: Not sure about the powder rooms ... they have an extractor fan, so I figure it's only going into the roof cavity. ~ trying to build our dream home by the sea ~ Re: Where is your rangehood duct routed to? 12Feb 02, 2011 10:38 am We're getting a Schweigen rangehood so vent through ceiling with the motor mounted on the roof.might have to be mounted 45° through the roof depending on where they put the HVAC. Bathrooms just vented to ceiling and whirlybirds take it from there. @kev205. You can't just vent it to the floor space between ground and top levels. New regs say it has to be vented outside. Unfortunately you'll probably have to pay for the ducting or get a recirculating type range. They do work quite well. The filters are good and wash in dishwasher most of the time. Re: Where is your rangehood duct routed to? 14Feb 04, 2011 10:07 pm How do I find people who specialise in installing rangehood ducting? What do I need to search for in yellow pages to find them? I tried "range hoods" but couldn't find anything. Re: Where is your rangehood duct routed to? 15Feb 05, 2011 5:49 am Plumbers will often install rangehood ducting. Cheers, Earl Re: Where is your rangehood duct routed to? 17Feb 07, 2011 12:07 pm Just contacted 10 or so plumbers out of yellow pages and bone of them do this sort of thing Re: Where is your rangehood duct routed to? 18Feb 07, 2011 12:22 pm May be you can look out under the heading "kitchen renovations and equipment" in yellow pages. If nothing is available then you can go to any good guys store or bunnings store near you and enquire there. They are normally very helpful in answering any such questions. Re: Where is your rangehood duct routed to? 19Feb 07, 2011 1:48 pm Where are you located? The plumbers I use here in Brisbane all do rangehood ducting...I could put you onto one if you are here. Again in Qld, we even have these guys http://www.riads.com.au/ who specialise in rangehood installation - maybe they could recommend who to call in your area - or you could try some airconditioning/heating installation people for a referral.
