We're in the process of choosing carpets for our new house. The carpets will mainly go on bedrooms plus the rumpus room. When it comes to choosing the best underlay for the job, we are confused as to whether to go with rubber or foam underlays? Every carpet place we've been to suggest something different.
Which is better? What are its advantages? Has anyone had a good experience with a particular type/brand of underlays?
Thanks in advance.

the rubber underlays will out last the foam underlay,
the ripple design in the rubber under lay helps with the softness under foot,
foam will compact over time and in doing this will feel thinner after a time,
I use the dunlop range of rubber underlay in most of the jobs I lay,
it normally comes down to price with the foam been the cheaper of the two,
