Correct, 3 in 1's should go outside where you stand to dry, which BTW is the only time the heat lamps should be on. They are wasting power if on whilst you are showering as their ability to heat a room is poor as they are intended to heat a person directly under it. Re: Extractor fan directly above shower 10Jan 25, 2011 5:26 pm I think we have this extraction thing under control in our bathrooms. We have and extractor fan directly over the shower, a 3 in 1 in middle of the room, lights above the mirrors and a heating duct too!! My bathrooms don't get steamy, mouldy or cold! Oh and they can be lit up like a runway too if I want!! Re: Extractor fan directly above shower 11Jan 25, 2011 6:04 pm I agree with Stormy,I have exhaust fan over shower plus 3 in1 have never and I mean never had mould or fog on mirror.I do leave fan on while I dry myself, when builders started puting 3 in 1 in they did away with fan over or near shower. With high ceiling I don't think 3 in 1s work that great[only an opinion]ps i also have duct in main bathroom in winter i use it.

Re: Extractor fan directly above shower 14Jan 26, 2011 7:37 am To tackle the airflow problem in our bathrooms I fiited an exhaust fan and a wall mounted 30cm fan. Leaving the window open helps with airflow, pulls air from outside that goes up into the ceiling. No 3-in-1 combo fitted here-things would be bad if I needed a heater in Darwin. Result-no mould, the walls stay dry and it always smells fresh in the rooms. Oh and they can be lit up like a runway too if I want!! Just like my setup, FB ...only we didn't get a heating duct installed (I should know better than to listen to my husband when it comes to heating - I swear, the man is part eskimo ), so we have a nice simple panel heater on a timer. When I swan into the bathroom in winter, it's a toasty 21C. And then I turn the overhead heat lamps on as well. Bright.... The heated towel rails (also on timers) make sure the towels dry too. No steam or mould here either. Re: Extractor fan directly above shower 16Jan 26, 2011 9:49 pm Thank you all for your responses. We will stick with a 1in3 in the centre of the room. Fingers crossed that we don't get any mold Re: Extractor fan directly above shower 17Jan 28, 2011 9:19 am kek .... The heated towel rails (also on timers) make sure the towels dry too. Wish I'd thought of heated towel rails. Although with all the heating I have in the bathroom, the towels dry quickly even in winter but they're not toasty warm. Re: Extractor fan directly above shower 18Jan 28, 2011 9:33 am I have a 3 in one in the centre but we will be putting another fan closer to the shower entrance come winter when we don't have windows open. The fan doesn't cope without windows open bugger!
