Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Jan 25, 2011 9:24 am Not sure if anyone will know a solution for this, but... instead of having the standard rectangular pull handles on our cavity doors, I have been wanting to use handles like the below to create a bit of a feature. BUT they only go on 1 side of the door. Do you think this would look ok? I mean as long as the nice side is facing out where people can see, the blank side can be in the room?? Or can I put these on 1 side and the standard pull on the other?? I am really struggling with door handles..... My only questions would be - would they go with the other door furniture in the room, presuming there is some? (they don't HAVE to match exaclty of course, but you don't want too many handle types in a room IMO) and - if you didn;t put a rectangular handle on the other side, would you have trouble opening the door fromt he other side? could you put one of these on the other side too? I think it could still work, if you could put one on the other side? Re: Cavity Sliding Door Furniture 8Jan 25, 2011 8:00 pm Until now I didn't even know if we are having flush jamb or flush pull systems, but I just had a look on the Corinthians site (where we have got them from), and it says that the flush jamb system isn't available in Vic. Which sucks if that's right! Based on what I can understand, the door will protrude approx 50mm from the cavity... 50mm might not be enough to allow for not only the handle, but also making sure the handle doesn't look too awkward and close to the edge when the door is closed. Does that make sense? The handle won't be in the normal position that a handle would be, it would be really close to the edge of the door. Re: Cavity Sliding Door Furniture 9Jan 25, 2011 8:47 pm hi Connie i think this is the type of cavity slider your talking about. You could put a handle on them but you really don't have much room. We have three cavity sliders but they all go back completely into the cavity so no protuding handles would work here. Some things are worth waiting for. We have three cavity sliders but they all go back completely into the cavity so no protuding handles would work here. Mine too, even the ones I had in the previous house that didn't slide all the way in would not have enough room for that style of handle. Cheers Lou http://take2-customdesigndownslope.blogspot.com 07-10-09 omg they have cut the block 14-05-10 we finally have the keys Re: Cavity Sliding Door Furniture 12Feb 02, 2011 1:54 pm You could always put a bump stop in the cavity to stop it shearing off the handle. The other problem is that those handles are designed to be screwed on from behind, so one side of the dorr would have a screw head showing(or both if you did both sides) but I think I may have a solution. I'll have to draw it up. Re: Cavity Sliding Door Furniture 13May 12, 2011 10:19 pm we mounted these pull handles on either side of the door, in a back to back configuration. there's a stopper built in so the door doesn't completely disappear into the cavity Our "Better Homes Queensland" Cairns Build viewtopic.php?f=31&t=40451 Current stage - 1st builder's clean done.
