We're building a modified Noosa 279. We've got a very odd shaped block and were limited on our choices of plans.
I just noticed your land settled the same day as ours!! LOL.
Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Coral Homes Stradbroke 279. SOIL TEST DONE! 48Jan 04, 2011 9:11 pm Waiting, waiting, waiting for the tender letter. It should be here this week or next week. In the mean time, I have chose my colour scheme. LOL. I even know what plants I want in the garden and have been buying smaller plants that will grow bigger by the time we finish building. I have even been growing some plants from seed. I have 2 types of bamboo on the go and some other bits and pieces. I hope everyone had a good xmas/new year. I worked right through including xmas night and new years day. It's lucky I like my job!! Re: Tamara1975 - Coral Homes Stradbroke 279. 49Jan 04, 2011 9:32 pm Ahh the waiting - none told me there would be this much waiting when building! I was just thinking the other day about starting to grow some plants ready for the new place. Have you drawn up a bit of a landscaping plan or have you just bought some plants you want to use and will work out where to put them later...not sure where to start.. Re: Tamara1975 - Coral Homes Stradbroke 279. 50Jan 04, 2011 9:46 pm Hi Baybuild ![]() I have done a rough plan and know what I like. I have got a thing for tropical/balinese gardens. I spend alot of time looking on the net for inspiration. I have heaps of pictures saved on my laptop. I have a good idea where I want everything. We have heaps of room so I will find places for them. Just make a list of what you like and look out for bargains on ebay/ markets/ bunnings etc. I always check out the reduced to clear at bunnings. They are cheap and just need TLC. I have so many plants in buckets and pots out the back. LOL. It does save heaps though. I think hubby is too scared to go out there!! Re: Tamara1975 - Coral Homes Stradbroke 279. 52Jan 04, 2011 10:02 pm Haha. My hubby has realised that we will save money in the mean time. I found a bargain on ebay - 1.5m foxtail palms for $30 each. I bought 10. He freaked at first but now he understands. LOL. Re: Tamara1975 - Coral Homes Stradbroke 279. 53Jan 05, 2011 5:12 pm Ah the waiting ... it's wonderful isn't it! While we got our contract 4 days before they closed for Christmas, it was signed and sent back, but nothing can be done with the bank until a signed copy comes back ... sigh. So we can be Coral waiting buddies together ... ![]() ~ trying to build our dream home by the sea ~ Re: Tamara1975 - Coral Homes Stradbroke 279. 54Jan 05, 2011 7:22 pm We are getting quotes for finance at the moment. Just waiting on the pool quote and tiles. Carpet gave me a bit of a shock. Everything else is about what I expected. Re: Tamara1975 - Coral Homes Stradbroke 279. 55Jan 06, 2011 11:20 pm Hmmmm. We got pool quotes today and somehow ended up signing a contract (subject to finance) for a pool. So we have a pool contract before the house contract! Does anyone else do things backwards? We always find ourselves in this situation. We got a good price though. It includes a waterfall (which we were planning on doing ourselves afterwards) and it has spa jets. So excited ![]() Re: Tamara1975 - Coral Homes Stradbroke 279. 56Jan 07, 2011 12:09 am Your plan looks great, zoned living is a great idea! What sort of a pool have you decided on? Concrete or fibreglass? We're also putting one in but don't have a set idea as yet. Exciting times ahead! We looked at fibreglass but we couldn't find what we wanted. Also hubby reconed they weren't deep enough. Hubby has his 40th in November and we have friends and family coming from NZ. They will never forgive us if we don't have a pool!! We went with 7 x 3.5 with another .5 metre swim up thingy along the side with spa jets down one end. The waterfall is black stone. We got a good price. Re: Tamara1975 - Coral Homes Stradbroke 279. 58Jan 07, 2011 8:59 am ![]() We went with concrete. We looked at fibreglass but we couldn't find what we wanted. Re: Tamara1975 - Coral Homes Stradbroke 279. 60Jan 07, 2011 1:38 pm There are no pics of our exact pool but I will find something similar. It is crazy having a pool before the house. It is subject to finance and it won't be built until the house is completed. Joe, it depends on your certifier but we are noticing the ones we deal with are really cracking down. So i would recommend you follow your approved landscaping plans to… 4 11982 ![]() Hi Simeon, Thank you for laying it down for us. Makes sense. Appreciate it very much. Have a nice day. Cheers 2 9929 |
